According to whoswho, there was a guard who told him about Sun God Nika, this guard died after telling about it.

now if Guards new about it! Then why not Magellan? And why would he let luffy escape?
Perhaps the story about Sun God Nika wasnt just this and that it also tells that Sun God Nika was a rubber man etc etc

this made Magellan perhaps thinks about this legend, and he saw that this legend was real and nika will comeback as luffy! He tested luffy power, his strenght, abilities, his will, etc etc and even kill him with his devil fruit powers. When Luffy survived this, he decided to let him go for a reason that he saw luffy’s future and what big difference he would make one day…

WG or Magellan didnt let him go, they didnt know Rubber DF = Joyboy/Nika, they just knew there existed joyboy/nika DF..... if they knew about GomuGomu then this would be the most stupidest writing in history by a loser writer

But the thing is like i said the WG kills the people who talks about the name Nika, i dont think they would be able to do that without letting Magellan knows about it. Or atleast guard told about it.
