Questions & Mysteries Did Oda tell Akira toriyama the ending of one piece!?

#2
Realistically speaking, do we even know if he himself has a detailed idea of what the ending will be ? Seeing as he is not really adverse to soft retcon/backshadowing, I'd say he could have described the general idea and/or ultimate panel/scene but not really more than that, if he talked about it at all.

His attitude regarding questions about the end of OP suggests that he would prefer to keep it to himself, imho ; if memory serves, Oda even said he didn't want any input or opinions from anyone *not supposed to* give him any, as he wants to take full responsibility for what what could go wrong in his manga.

All in all, Toriyama being a childhood hero and inspiration to him could have made him the exception to the rule, I guess.

Oda himself doesn't know the ending lol, which is why he created and dropped several plot lines since wano.

The ending can be set in stone since 1997 and the way(s) to get there can still be changed without altering it.

You can't only drive from your place to work in just one car, or on just one road, or at just one speed.

This happens. That happens. Then the OP. Then Luffy. Then last panel.
In-between is a yarn of different possibilities; Oda has only to pick.

Bro literally died and is still the only one to ever actually get the OP ending... We won't even get that far
There are several who know the ending. There's Oda's first editorial team, who learned *why* it's called One Piece. There's that close friend who was told by drunk Oda of Ace's death all the way in Alabasta.
And this only from what circulated online. Offline, the list is bound to be longer.

Only two things are set in stone:

Devil fruits cease to exist after luffy wills them out of reality and that luffy's dream is to be able to swim.

The "dying kid gets to learn how his favorite piece of media ends" card has been played so hard, I don't even know what's true and what is just meme.

I thought Oda didn't want to kill Ace?
Or was that his editor that didn't want it?
