Interesting question, pretty entertaining concept, but I’m gonna say that’s a big fuckin’ NO on this one, Crydo. I definitely see the logic, especially with eel/serpent-like members of the fishman race, but I don’t think the aesthetic similarities forecast any genetic connection between a “real” ethnicity in the canon and a mythical type of creature :luuh:

There are only so many possible character designs, especially in a series where we have mile-long lists of secondary and tertiary figures. Also, Jinbe’s whole look from the beginning has had strains of Japanese/samurai culture, something into which dragons have historically factored very heavily. There’s a little smoke here, like I said in my first post, but I remain unconvinced of any fire attached to it :kayneshrug:
