Controversial Does anime and manga contribute to male loneliness and involuntary celibacy? Or is it simply a means to escape these realities??

Forums and internet might, comics don’t.

Spoiler culture is also a plague. People are behind their computer the whole week because they can’t stfu about their comic books.

Weekends should be about touching grass and forums shall be closed

I want to hear your honest and good faith opinion on this. This thread's purpose is by no means to belittle anyone, but to understand the ever growing phenomenon of male (and to a lesser extent female) loneliness and desire for escapism.
Anime is not the reason. Moreso societal problems, global crises, the overall meaninglessness of everyday life tasks etc…
Young people these days lack healthy social structures and prospects for the future.

No. Most incels are only incels because they aren’t willing to put in the effort to get a girlfriend.

I’ve only met a few people here who were legitimately incels. Like Bob before he got himself perma banned.

Having niche interests and being part of a larger community is probably a solution to loneliness rather than a cause of it.

Staying on this forum allows me to keep a semblant of social interactions (no matter the nature). Manga/anime are therefore a way for me to socialize.

There are many compagnon that would love to get with someone with a love for manga and anime. Search for them :)
