I'm guessing Oda wanted Drake to be positioned in the inverse of Zoro so it'd look cool.

It's so that he can switch arm at the last moment to troll his opponent. We are missing 2 panels here. The first one where he engages with his left arm and the second one where he switched arm to strike with the right one.

Hence Apoo's surprised face. It seems Drake was trolling him.

Honestly I rather noticed Apoo's pose in here than Drake's lol, for a moment I mean. Look at the freaking legs I mean, it seemed to me for an instant like they were Apoo's and not Drake's, at least for a brief for a moment lol.

I think that would have been epic honestly.
