Oda made it to where both Kid and Law share only some of Luffy's qualities. Law has the will of D and a broken DF. Kid is a conqueror and he is a brawler like Luffy.
Being a D, Law's arc has involved his battle with Doffy, as well as fighting Blackbeard(another D). Whereas Kid, being a conqueror, created an alliance of his own to try to take out a yonko, and fought Shanks, another conqueror.
Now. While this is never explicitly stated, it is pretty much implied that CoC is an inheritable ability. This doesn't mean that everyone with CoC automatically got it from someone else, genetics don't work that way. However, it does mean that CoC can be passed down. These reactions to Luffy using it in marineford are proof of this.
"So you really were born with it" - Garp
"He's the son of the revolutionary Dragon, little wonder he possesses this innate power" - Doberman
"Well the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh Dragon?" - Ivankov
And you can see it from so many other characters
Anyways, my take is that given how lacking Kid's character is, I feel like it would make a lot of sense for his father to be a notable character. Basically the person he inherited conqueror's haki from.
Oden says that the very same people who take down Kaido will be the same people who are primary figures of the final war. With chapter 1000, Kid is shown to be amongst these primary figures.
So there is a very strong chance that Kid will be involved in the final war. Yet unlike Law, who will surely join the fight due to being a D, Oda is yet to create a strong motivation for Kid to fight the final war.
I feel like Kid's dad could play into this. What if, given all the similarities between Kid and Shanks, Kid has a similar origin story to Shanks? What if Kid's dad is a celestial dragon? Perhaps one of the holy knights?
I feel like something like that could go a long way in setting up Kid's story in the final war as well as overall just making him a lot more of an interesting character.
