To the surprise of many, myself included, Eris actually survived God Valley.
But something isn’t quite adding up.
When Teach joins Whitebeard in the Oden flashback, it’s stated that he’s an orphan. So logically speaking, we’re still missing a significant section of Teach’s backstory, and possibly the most important part. Something is going to happen that leads to the death of Eris.
And here’s where I think we’ll get a twist. Right now, in the immediate aftermath of God Valley, Teach seems almost justified in his actions. He was wronged by Imu and the celestial dragons. His clan is the target of extermination. The world wants him dead. To counter balance this perception of Teach, Oda will have to do something that solidifies beyond any shadow of a doubt, that despite any reasonable justification for the way that he is, Teach is still an irredeemable monster. If anyone here ever watched the Penguin show on HBO, you can see where this is going.
We’ve already seen Teach kill “family” (Thatch, WB, etc) for the sake of us his goals.
In line with his character, what’s something that matches that pattern of behavior that would also fill in gaps in the story. Simple: Teach kills Eris.
There will probably be more context to what happens (potentially also related to the explanation for why Teach is a “they”), but I’m certain Teach will end up being shown killing actual family.
