So one of the most speculated topics in the one piece community is "what the final matchups will be". So I wanted to give a spin on my predictions. here's my matchup predictions for every major character below.

(cross guild vs luffy strongest allies)

Zorro vs mihawk (Duh)

Imu vs luffy vs blackbeard
[Fair but Im not expecting the final battle to involve blackbeard AND imu]

Zorro vs mihawk (Duh)
[I don't think that this will take place during the final war, but who knows]

Sanji vs crocodile (Mr prince vs Mr 0)
[I'm not sure if the Cross Guild will be fought during the Final War. If anything, I think they will become allies. Crocodile seems way too weak for Final War Sanji, but it would still be really cool. I will refrain from mentioning my thoughts on the Cross Guild from here on, just to reduce redundancy. ]

Law vs doflamingo (duh)
[I don't think that this will happen. Doflamingo will need some buffs. I hope he becomes a Holy Knight.]

Yamato vs moria (moria will return to prime and fight kaidos child)
[I can't see Moria ever getting that string again. I also don't think Moria will ever be comparable to Mihawk, and I think that, even EoS, Yamato and Zoro will not be THAT different in strength.]

Marco vs weevil ( whitebeard child battle)
[Don't see it happening.]

Kidd vs hanafuda (idk depends on whos alive)*
[That's not fair to Kidd. Hanafuda was confirmed to be dead, and I doubt Oda will go back on that.]

Killer vs Mr.1*
[Killer is closer to Sanji amd Crocodile than he is to Mr. 1, I'm sure. He could beat many Mr. 1s.]

Shanks vs Garling (father vs son)
[I think Shanks will die before this, but who knows.]

Dragon vs akainu (battle of two former friends)
[I personally place Dragon comfortably above Akainu, but that's just me. I think it would be more likely and fun for Sabo to fight Akainu. I'm tired, so I won't go into my thoughts on Akainu's role in the final saga.*

koby vs kuzan (depends on story)*
[I still can't see Koby getting that strong, but it wouldn't necessarily surprise me.]

Yeah good notes, the goal of this post wasn't to give every character the most likely matchup but one's that could have the most character writing/potential. Also it doesn't take into account potential character deaths and assumes every faction will be at the final war.

With garling, Shamrock, and akainu I could see them fighting any combination of dragon, Sabo, and shanks depending on what happens in the story.

With ones like Smoker vs kizaru and koby vs kuzan would give justification for why they become admirals eos imo. (new gen beating the old) but honestly both admirals could switch sides.

With marco vs weevil, it may be less of a fight and more of a skirmish. Maybe while fighting marco tells weevil his past. (as weevil wanted to kill marco last time we saw him)

Mainly, I wanted to give as many important characters decent matchups as possible. One piece is a 1000+ chapter manga almost every key character should get a decent fight. (Even the ones people claim are useless like ussop ) in many cases the final war could be these characters last major moment in the series.

Like law is definitely stronger than doffy now. However, no character he would fight in the final war would have as much potential from a writing standpoint as one final rematch against doffy.

And with the gorsoei I can't imagine zorro vs venusjuro would have the same impact as mihawk would as the final fight.

Ultimately it depends on what you prioritize. even though kaido vs luffy may have been a more evenly matched fight. I would still put ussop vs luffy Over it, for the character writing that came because of it. Water 7 wouldn't have worked as well without that fight.

So anyway thanks for the thoughts.

Could see all those fights happening, but zorro vs mihawk before venusjuro would make zorro vs venusjuro lame.

Also unless garp, Rayleigh, and gaban die, they need good fights. I feel like the gorosei are their only good options left.

Adult Seraphim are the wild cards for EOS. They could outlast the Gorosei as Imu's final line of defense. Imagine if Imu turns them into demons. Insane ceiling.

Shanks is fighting Teach. Shanks has visited his family and doesn't see them as a threat in the same way he sees Teach, clearly. This will be the most built up fighting in one piece by far

Blackbeard and shanks will for sure fight, I just don't think oda has it in him to kill Shanks.

BB won't even meet Shanks lol that's too predictable and he doesn't have the guts to kill his auto-self insert
