I think not likely but I still can't ignore the possibility.

The name of the organization ''SWORD'' is one thing, and Shanks's only weapon we see on panel is sword. Of course, I believe Shanks has other abilities other than swordsmanship, as Ling said, using a sword doesn't make one a swordsman.

But another thing is, Coby gets saved by Shanks in marineford:



2 years later, we see Coby joining the SWORD Marines:



And another member, X-Drake.

Why the name of X-Drake's pirate crew is ''RED FLAG''? Why not Allosaurus pirates or X-Drake pirates? Why ''RED'' flag?

Interesting.

And we've people like Sengoku treating Shanks differently:



SENGOKU: ''SINCE ITS YOU RED HAIR... I'II TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT.''

Why Shanks care about the lives of the Marines? Why Shanks saved Coby, a marine, and potentially saved Marineford, Marine soldiers, and Fleet Admiral Sengoku from Blackbeard?

Why Shanks can negotiate with Gorosei?

Was Oda preparing people for Shanks being a Rosinante-like character by creating this character and story line?

Why Buggy get sick at the exact moment when he was going to reach Laugh Tale?



Did Shanks poisoned Buggy because of the orders?

Or that, he took orders to not go to the Laugh Tale by his secret Marine Organization SWORD's previous leaders?

Was Shanks also poisoning Roger from the beginning because of the orders?

It's really a weird coincidence that both Buggy gets sick when it was final moment and then perhaps Shanks felt responsible and stayed behind with him.

Shanks is also interested in protecting the foods from the kitchen, when Buggy was holding the Bara Bara no Mi, Shanks appeared at the exact moment, and told him to not steal food from kitchen:



Was Shanks using poisons by sneaking into the kitchen?


How did Shanks learn the secret about Sun God Nika DF, and how did he locate the exact CP Agent's ship to steal that DF power? How did he know without having secret government connections?



Its also strange that Oda choose to dress Who-s who in RED Color, a character that related to Shanks.



Now the question is, if we assume Shanks is a secret Marine, that doesn't want wars and wants peace. Why would he let Luffy to eat the ultimate God DF?



We can assume from Shanks's behaviours that it was an accident.

Then why Shanks didn't let Luffy to die and sacrificed his arm for Luffy?

Was Shanks's plan to use Nika DF fruit to destroy the World Government so the SWORD Marines can replace the leftovers and the old marines, or that was he planning to use it against the heir of Xebec, who is BlackBeard?



Perhaps Shanks planned to get this fruit to Ace, so Ace could defeat them. But Luffy eating it changed Shanks's plans.

Then see how Shanks already know that Ace was suppose to fight BlackBeard, but not too soon:

Maybe now, Shanks changed the roles of Ace and Luffy, and he is planning to use Luffy as a shield against World Government and BlackBeard?

I think one of the leaders of sword is garp .
i think there is more then one higher ups in sword.Like aokiji :kuzanshut:
or Senghok because he was strongly involed in Rosinante being undercover in Doffys crew.

Shanks being part of sword in my opinion doesn‘t suit his character ,he is portrait as one of the most powerful pirates of one piece .
he maybe has ties to the WG/Celestial Dragon of some sort.

The Theory of him finding the Nika DF for ACE might actually be true ,because Shanks knew he was Rogers Son and maybe knew this DF would be needed for the prophecy Roger talked about .
But Luffy messed up his initial plan :milaugh:

There is something fishy going on with Shanks that is for sure.Maybe he is an undercover admiral,celestial dragon or something...

Why would Lakainu trust Koby with his very special secret force when he tried to kill Koby 2 years ago? Their views of justice surely doesn't align similar to the relationship between Lakainu and Aokiji or Fujitora. And remember that Lakainu didn't even finish Aokiji after 10 days battle and getting scars on his face and losing half of his ear, while Lakainu was going to kill Koby if not for Shanks. Did he start to trust Koby after Shanks stopped him?
