General & Others Focus on the Other Straw Hats

Ever since the timeskip, Oda had been only focusing on Luffy, Zoro and Sanji in terms of strength or personal development. Now, you can argue Sanji’s developments had been positive or negative but he had been a major point of focus ever since Zou arc (Luffy likening Gaban to Sanji is a big point too). Even at when it is supposed to be Usopp’s own personal arc for which the fans had been waiting for almost 30 years, Zoro and Sanji are getting more developments (Zoro going to an adventure with the original trio and Oda literally confirming Sanji is “The Left Hand” of Luffy when Luffy immediately thought of Sanji after talking to Gaban for a few seconds).

Do you want Oda to focus more on the other Straw Hats too? I would personally prefer if the members of M3 took some steps back and let the other members shine? The story is not only about Roger/Rayleigh/Gaban or Luffy/Zoro/Sanji. I wish the other members got more focus. Oda did “personal” arcs for Chopper, Sanji, Zoro and Franky up to this point (Zou/WCI/Wano/Egghead) but only Zoro and Sanji got long term focus. When it is time to do Elbaph (in progress), Hachinosu, Vira, Lodestar, Usopp/Brook/Robin/Nami should get some actual focus too! (Usopp’s dream is literally tied to Elbaph, Brook because of potential knowledge on God Valley/Rocks, Robin because of RA and Nami for finding Laugh Tale after Lodestar)

To be honest I do not. I’m fine with them being as they are, recurring characters and gag. They were interesting at some time, but now there are plenty of characters more interesting than Usopp, Franky or Brook.

I for one would prefer a 100 times to see Aokiji’s or Shanks’ development rather than Usopp running away every arc. I understand some people are sympathetic to the “lower members or the crew”. But I’m fine with One Piece as it is, the main players in the One Piece race are getting the spotlight as should be.

Character focus is more important to me, but fights would probably be easier for Oda to give the other Straw Hats. Franky at least consistently gets clashes and fights, but Robin and Brook have been lacking in that regard. Robin gets good moments, but they're spread pretty thin. I think Robin getting consistent focus would be for the better, she's incredibly important and can take care of herself to an extent.

I enjoy the treatment Zoro and Sanji get. Sanji's my favourite and I like the focus on him being the protector of his weaker friends, his new Germa developments while staying true to himself, plus Power of Love is a nice idea I hope Oda explores more with his exoskeleton and flames.

“Wings of the pirate king”, Luffy immediately thinking about Sanji when he talked with Gaban, Sanji taking charge of part of the crew in Zou (named as Curly Hats). Robin (a crewmember) defines him as a wing of the Pirate King along with Zoro, what more proof do you need? It means crew members also see Zoro and Sanji as Luffy’s right and left hand men.

Sunbell did not replace Gaban, Oden did not replace Gaban either. Neither Jinbei or Yamato will replace Sanji.

Luffy, Zoro and Sanji fans do not have anything to worry about aside from few gag and hyping scenes by Oda. It is the fans of the other crew members who should be worried at this stage.
