Ther is a level of respect and admiration between all 3 of them. It is now clear why garp took ace and also why Roger asked him. After this experience together it changed all the major players in the world.

Garp realized the corruption that was in the marine and that he had to do something to change it from the inside. He might have created sword but most importantly he started to train people in whom he has seen there is hope for change.

Roger realized that his carefree life was not possible no more and that he had to find put the true behind what he saw and down the line he realized the same thing Rokcs and Eris did he came to early to see the change so he decided to use this opportunity to lunch a new era with the hope that the ones that will bring change will be ready.

But one thing they realized in that moment is that they are probably not enemies but their things they wanted to achieve and protect would bring them opposite to each other.

It's just factually false that Smoker was handled ant differently appearance wise post timeskip than prior; I don't know why people can't criticize how Oda handled him without acting as though every other major recurring character doesn't have equivalent gaps in appearances and that it's not a position of honor to be a main character in the first arc in the New World proper.

Yeah this chapter really made me think of what could Luffy/Smoker have been like if the didn't give up on the White Hunter. Fuck Lolda

Smoker and Luffy's age difference and Luffy's differences from Roger already made their dynamic inherently different.

Smoker at Punk Hazard's end is talking about Luffy as if he's a child worried about how Law is "using" him and Luffy throughout the arc shows that he cares about Smoker.

Their reunion is literally promised by the protagonist, why are people arguing against his words
