Speculations General Douglas MacArthur..... get fast air & sea

Douglas MacArthur was American general who occupied Japan after world war 2. He is mirroring Green Bulls rapid air and sea tactics. a close study of World War II shows MacArthur to be the most innovative and brilliant commander of that conflict. His was the first approach to modern warfare that emphasized the need for rapid, light and highly mobile amphibious and air forces operating over vast distances.

There are many indicators that show the wano arc might have similar outcomes to the end of World War 2. This general occupied japan and collaborated with the ruling emperor to run the country. Momo has been shown to be very open with his people mimicking the actions of the emperor post ww2. I don't think Luffy will met Green Bull but I do think Wano will be under control of the WG soon at least for a little bit. This collaboration may lead to Wano being a weapon provider for the WG but ultimately not being under their entire control. Wano having the WG as a new customer with momo still somewhat in charge seems like a betrayal to Luffy so I have my doubts. Ultimately I think Green Bull will settle for a secondary prize.

MacArthur was the most overrated American general in WWII. Practically all of the other big names in the American side like Patton, Eisenhower, or Nimitz were better :zosleepy:

To give credit where it’s due MacArthur was a good diplomat, but as a general he wasn’t all that
There seems be characters with mixed traits. My guess is that Green Bull inherited traits from both of these guys which will lead to momo being spared but the seven retainer being killed. Actually do you know a lot about the war crime trials of japan after ww2?

Not a ton but a decent amount. The US wanted Japan to be a stronghold of American influence in East Asia as they were growing concerned over the Soviet Union taking Manchuko and northern Korea and the communist uprising in China. So MacArthur decided to give multiple members of the Japanese government, most notably the emperor, a free pass while they used certain other Japanese politicians as scapegoats, especially Hideki Tojo (Granted, Tojo WAS a war criminal who had a lot of blood on his hands but he was used to absolve a lot of other politicians of wrongdoing). But yeah lots of war criminals got off completely scot-free and most of them just continued serving in the government like they did before.
For instance Nobusuke Kishi was a Class A war criminal, but he was let go with no punishment and ended up becoming the prime minister

But anyway Aramaki strikes me as kind of a psycho so I don’t really see the MacArthur parallels

Grade A+ answer. Using scapegoats and using people who seem to be cooperate is what I suspected for post ww2 japan. That little comment from Green Bull about having the power to influence other caught my attention. Even if green bull is a vegan Hilter, I think he still understand how thing can be done with a puppet government.

Think it depends on if the world goverment=nato theory is true and the cricitsm of the united states is fully intended by Oda, but I dunno, because then the ending of one piece would imply that Japan has to change its constituation and get rid of american influence to be free, which prolly would be to controversial😂

Right wing is getting louder everywhere in the world. Maybe that IS the message. We'll never really know thought.

Yeah thats the thing Oda does this sixties hippie lefty che guvara signaling, so one wouldnt think he would endorse a "right wing" position, but I guess if he is actually some secret stalinist tankie that wants to destroy the imperialist for a free world, that could come true😂
Maybe thats his long con plan, pretend hes just making a product for shonen jump but then starts the true proletariat revolt🤔🤷🏿‍♂️

I think oda is more neutral, but even neutral can have far right and left beliefs. No point in speculating since we don't know him and it just a story.

yeah hard to say to me he just seems like a dude who hit the jackpot, is satisfied with most popculture and doesnt really care that much asides for things like "yeah slavery and explotation is bad, hopefully one day everybody can live free like in first world countries"
Especially the whole Okama thing seems that he mostly cares for 90's live and let live do whatever "progressivism" so eh?

that would explain his based speech
I dunno, I think nobody actually thinks like that outside of a few loli-pfp anime nazis on twitter. Even others nietchians who worship strength or nrx autists put it as "the poor/inferior races are evil and hurting us and we need opression for order even if it may be tragic", Greenbull just seemed like "haha slavery and eating children is good haha die if you dont worship the fat ugly nobles who do nothing!!!"😂

funny that you say that because i am actually a yarvin fan. anyway, i meant it in a tongue and cheek way, i don't even remember the exact things that he said. in the world of one piece where so many prominent marines disobey orders (smoker, garp, kuzan, fujitora...) it is refreshing to have someone just stay "you are an outsider, i could do anything to you" and not even trying to rationalize it somehow with faux morality.

yeah true I also didnt reread the qute so maybe I'm misremebering it myself, but yeah would make sense that a knew recruit for the marines that got admiral rank cause of his strength (and maybe was rewarded with a op devilfruit) would just care about winning and being on the side of the strong. But I guess one could ask why he doesnt convince Akainu to just kill the Gorosei and go full military dictatorship🤔😂
