Hakuki wins by portrayal. He was either 1 or 2 in Qin during the same era that the Duke was active

Also someone who fought against Renpa countless times should be able to deal with instincts

It's been a long time since I read Kingdom but from what I remember from bits and pieces of it, Duke Hyou functions better when he has his personal army/troops attached to him directly (which would most likely be a small fraction of those 100k soldiers that he is starting off with).

His intelligence rating is also 70 (pretty darn low), so he's not going to be making any kind of sophisticated strategic plans here in this battle at all.

Duke Hyou could very well end up falling into a strategical trap set by Hakuki in advance somehow and with his main army surrounded (and outnumbered) in a difficult position.

Hakuki. It's not gonna be an easy match by any means, the Duke is the epitome of the instictual general, but the old Qin Six leader is gonna take it. I think that amongst the old Qin Six + Duke Hyou, Hakuki's portrayal makes him the strongest one.

Btw yeah it seems like your tags didn't work, I'll re-tag folks here below:

Renpa's insticts are surely very strong but to be fair, just on that alone the Duke is gonna be on another level.

Renpa's main strenght is his hybridness, his ability to be both a strategical beast and an instinctual general.

Difficult fight

The thing with Duke is even if he is a weaker general than Hakuki overall (and he is) he can maybe win this shit

Duke doesn’t care about strategy or traps or carefully planned tactics. He waits or creates a fire and then give his all.

The man can counter Riboku tactics for exemple.

So Hakuki with all his great schemes and plans doesn’t expect a guy like that.

And Hakuki doesn’t seem to be a physical fighter. I know stats can be bullshit by Hara only gave him 86 in STR. In a face to face Duke would erase him.

Moreover Hakuki seems to be the former Ousen. Same warfare or style (Renpa chap 222)
And we know now that Ousen is not an instinctual general but full tactics.

‘BUT :

Hakuki fought and « beat » other great instinctual generals before. He battled Renpa numerous times and he always managed to keep him at arms length. Making him worked out, mad etc. And Renpa is a monster at tactics and a monster at instinct.

So Hakuki knows how to deal with instinct.

And Hakuki great strength is patience and calm. Hakuki can retreat and retreat and build castle and castle etc etc to tire the fuck of you.
I have no doubt that if Duke is charging Hakuki will retreat.

The problem I can see with Hakuki is he won’t create any fire for Duke to exploit. He won’t create any momentum or anything.
He will keep thing the coldest ever.

‘So in the end I think Hakuki is countering Hyou as much as Hyou is countering peak strategy.

I give this to Hakuki the leader of the 6

Hakuki and it’s almost unfair to Duke imo.
I don't see how it's ufair?

From what was told Hakuki was fighting Renpa mostly by dancing around him and luring him into traps or geting some sort of field advantage like a natural fort. But here it's an open battle against an Epithome of Insinct who is known for defeating many strategical generals.

I think this is a scenario where Duke has a decent chance to win.

Honestly the Duke might be the general with the highest chance to beat Hakuki

How do you beat someone who never fights a battle he can’t lose and actually has a clean record in 40 years or so of warfare
Answer lies with Duke Hyou, the epitome of instinctual warfare, someone you can’t get a proper read on

Still betting on Hakuki obviously, but the Duke gives him trouble for sure
