The Lunarian people were a tribe lost to history.
Let's see, who in the story knew about Lunarians at all?
Arbel, obviously, Kaido, Queen, Whitebeard, Marco, Izou, Big Mom and Vegapunk.
King's underlings didn't speak the word "Lunarian", they just knew what description merited a reward from the WG.
What I see here is two groups: 1. those who were in the Rocks Pirates (Marco and Izou were told by drunken WB) 2. those who were in MADS.
My guess is, what happened in God Valley had to do with Lunarians (called gods, yes?) and that's how the Rocks Pirates veterans knew about them. It also adds up that Arbel was caught by the WG in that incident.
Now MADS members are old enough to have lived in the time of the God Valley incident, and even if was silenced, something must have leaked.
MADS were disbanded 24 years ago, but the government allowed most of its members to continue working under it. Vegapunk read the Ohara library 22 years ago, and Queen joined Kaido at least 20 years ago. So there's a possible time window for Queen to have learned it from the Ohara library through Vegapunk. Queen sent Sanji to read a history book, so that reinforces this possibilty.
Or it could be that Kaido trusted Queen enough to tell him. I highly doubt that King himself would share his secret with Queen, given their relationship.
Obviously he didn't help them, but he could have been there. Maybe he was the one Kaido hit in the anime when he released himself.
