Multiverse General How does crossverse powerscaling account for an author’s own lack of knowledge?

#1
For example, during the Tournament of Power, multiple characters hyped Dyspo for being as fast as light, even though characters surpassed light speed all the way back in DBZ, and Dyspo is much faster than them. This clearly happened because the people who wrote this scene didn’t know what the speed of light actually was. So do we go with the authors’ statement and downscale any DB character slower than Dyspo to below light speed, or do we just discard that statement?

Discard, it was just an empty hype statement for Dyspo. I don’t think it was meant literally

and just do the
A > B > C

If DBZ Goku is LS

then Dyspo speed is >>>>> Goku DBZ speed
Then Dyspo speed is >>>>> LS

What about stuff like Kuma’s air cannons being stated to be light speed, even though that makes no sense with what else we see in the series?

A lot of people upscale Blue Planet to star sized for some reason. So what if Oda came out in an SBS and said that Blue Planet is star sized? How would we rationalize that with the fact that OP characters can sail halfway across the world in a month on wooden ships? In such a case, it’d be pretty obvious that Oda just underestimated how huge stars are

The Dyspo thing is largely a mistranslation and misconception

As for the thread, One Piece characters are lightspeed/FTL, the planet is star sized and Chinjao split a continent:BigW:

lmao, why do you get so pressed at the idea that the OP world is bigger then the real world?

But I actually agree with the Chinajo thing, they clearly don´t have continents like we do
It’s bigger than the real world, but obviously not star sized lmao. The Sun is a million times bigger than Earth. OP world is Jupiter sized at best, and even that’s really generous.

The Chinjao thing makes no sense on so many levels.

For starters, the world has clearly been portrayed as being just a bunch of islands, which makes sense with the story being centered on pirates. If there are other continents besides the Red Line, why the fuck has world building fanatic Oda never mentioned them?

Second, the world being flooded by 200 meters is clearly supposed to serve as an explanation for why the world is only the Red Line and a bunch of islands (which used to be highly elevated areas on actual continents).

Third, Don Sai’s kick was stated by Chinjao himself to be equal to his drill that broke the Jewel Ice Sheet. Are we supposed to believe fucking Sai is continent level? Also, his drill kick only cracked a small segment of Dressrosa.

Fourth, are we supposed to believe there’s a literal continent’s worth of gold treasure under the ice sheet? If so, why is no one else itching to claim it?

Yes, it's fiction, there are a thousand things in every story that are impossible in the real world, but it doesn't matter because it isn't the real world.
So we should accept some pixel scaling nonsense to justify the planet being star sized, but using basic common sense to deduce that the planet can’t be that large given how quickly characters sail around the world is off limits?

Also, how do you explain FTL Nusjuro taking nearly 10 minutes to run a lap around a (small) island?

I didn't say you should accept it, you can accept whatever you want to, but trying to apply real world constraints on a fictional setting is just stupid, basically everything would be invalidated if you did that.

There’s plenty of showings which prove the OPverse isn’t casually light speed, while the Kuma thing is the only thing you can use to upscale the verse to light speed.

How did Luffy not reach the execution platform in a femtosecond if he can casually move at light speed?

Why is Kizaru hyping up his “light speed kicks” if low tiers can move at light speed?

Why were the SHs struggling to outrun an explosion at PH?

Why did top tier speedster Venus take 10 minutes to run a lap around Egghead?

Etc

yeah, the flood should confirm it wasn´t an irl like continent, instead you have major ¨Seas¨
East blue, west blue, etc
