How successful will Naruto or HxH be if it came out recently instead of the 90's?

Currently we are in the "golden age" of manga/anime where sales are breaking records. How popular do you think Naruto/HxH will be if it came out this decade instead of 90's? It doesn't have to be Naruto and HxH it can be any manga that was popular in the 90s or early 2000's like FullMetal Alchemist or Bleach.

Could sell a bit more abroad. Same in Japan.

Should have asked what would happen if HxH had encountered no hiatus.

Well then it would be as popular as One Piece

Well HxH already has 300 chapters and over 150 episodes that is way more than enough to be successful in this age. What i was referring to was if they just came out a few years ago like 2017 instead of 90's. I feel like they will be breaking records if they did.

I don't think Naruto or HxH are built for the modern era tbh

Especially Naruto

Longer shonen just aren't as popular as they used to be

Bleach would get axed

One Piece probably would too

i think hxh would be considered the best manga out. honestly Naruto was a very mockible anime cause it was a ninja in an orange jumpsuit if nobody remembers. It took countless Naruto proving himself and overcoming to make fans especially people from the yyh, one piece dbz era. which is why I feel like they did rock lee bold because he definitely made Naruto hype. it was kinda lame before that.

Naruto would be fine, it’s not a slow burn series and every arc is pretty climactic. There’s only a few “boring” arcs

This is a weird question
Naruto alongside Pokémon played a huge role in the current Manga boom in America(Since Manga was already huge in Europe and Japan)

It's like asking "what if Batman was introduced in the 60s instead"

Dunno if the very beginning would hook the readers though

You have to remember that in modern shonen you get about 15 to 20 chapters to hook the audience and start selling well

If not you're getting the boot

The first 10 ish chapters of Naruto consist of Team 7 trying to take the bells from Kakashi lmao

It was exciting in the anime but I don't know if it would grip a kids attention now in manga format

If we assume Naruto and HxH are moved ahead and everything else stays the same it just doesn't compare to other hype series that people like right now

I don't even need to talk about how poorly One Piece, Bleach, and HxH would do

I disagree, the first 10 chapters introduced one of the most popular characters and a pretty fun exercise. But sure, what happens right after? Land of Waves arc is considered to be one of the best arcs in Naruto and it starts in chapter 9. You’re literally getting the best of Naruto right away.

this ain’t one piece were most agree the story starts rolling in Baratie, or HxH where the Hunter Exams are considered to be boring until the tournament.

Fair enough

Everything does seriously pick up after chapter 9 so I'll give you that one

I don't think any of the other series listed survive though

You guys need to consider the fact that Boruto is literally the third most popular anime in the world. Boruto has 300 episodes. If Naruto or HxH or FMA were to be published now instead of 20 something years ago, it would break records.

To be fair, Boruto is riding on Naruto's coattails.

Naruto would be fine imo, cuz Land of Waves is a stellar arc and it happens quite soon into Naruto, so yeah it'd probably do great.

Boruto is not a standalone series it’s a sequel

99.9% of the people that read/watch Boruto read or watched Naruto when they were younger

Dragonball Super is popular because of DBZ

Same thing with Boruto
