I think he had no way to counter infinity.
The fact that Sukuna had to rely on Mahoraga to counter infinity supports this claim.
But what if Sukuna used any other attack inside domain battle? Dont know how Gojo would have countered that.
We may never see Fuga/OPEN again.
At the end, Gege kept it ambiguous, because Gojo himself thought it was 50-50 even without Megumi.

But I would have liked Sukuna to counter infinity without Mahoraga BS.
Tbh, 10S was the real problem in this fight.
The only possibility I see where Gege can put Gojo > Sukuna is when Sukuna himself says that Mahoraga was his only option (likely, it wont happen).
And it is not even clear if Mahoraga protected Sukuna when Gojo fired that last Hollow Purple. 🤦♂️

That's what I said, it was not shown. But Sukuna and Mahoraga were caught in that attack.
Mahoraga had already protected Sukuna from Gojo's attack, if you remember.
So, either:
1) Hollow Purple is Shallow Purple, or
2) Mahoraga protected Sukuna
Sukuna not being able to get past Infinity without Domain Expansion is irrelevant. If he was in his Heian body, the extra arms and mouth would give him the advantage in CQC and prevent Gojo from injuring Sukuna enough to beat him in the DE clash by 0.01 seconds. Sukuna would have won that 5th DE clash and Gojo would be cooked since he can’t use DE more than 5 times in a row
I agree that the chants can give a boost, but you know that Gojo dominated Sukuna in CQC. So, lets give benefit of the doubt to Gojo and say the best Heian era Sukuna can do is *match* Gojo in CQC.
But yeah, Domain battle may have ended the fight with Sukuna as the winner.
