This is like the fifth "origin story" we've gotten for the character at this point

2. The first Lupin III anime series

4. The Woman Called Fujiko Mine
5. And now a series about teenage Lupin
Granted this is the first one that focuses on Lupin as a teenager, but still. A big appeal for the franchise to me is that you can really do anything you want with the characters due to the lack of concrete continuity. But it just kinda feels like instead of taking advantage of that, they're retreading old ground
