Energy outburst from CoC Haki makes black blade the hardest to master and the attack potency will be greater the more Haki you put into black blade.

Mihawk did say you needed to infuse haki but we always just assumed it was just hardening, a potent mixture of armament and conquerors could be the answer. Kinda thinking some kind of spiritual awakening as well considering the personalities of the blades and the relationship with the wielder, not everyone has that kind of relationship.
