Am I the only one who dislikes the fact that anime/manga is becoming more popular in the West?

I grew up watching Naruto and most of the other big shonen anime/manga starting when I was like 5 or 6. They always felt like hidden gems that most other people around me didn't know about, but now everywhere I go I see someone wearing a One Piece shirt, doing Naruto hand-signs and making cringe ass tiktoks and instagram videos.

Kind of a bummer.

Idk I have mixed feelings when it comes to stuff like that

It's always nice to see more people appreciate the things you love

There are downsides but I think the benefits outweigh any negatives

Think about all the anime related content we wouldn't have if not for the crazy reception anime has over here

Naruto was special to me because it was one of the few anime that I started watching before watching other series like One Piece, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, etc.

I agree. Kishimoto did not care about naruto as a story with shippuden he just capitalized on previously established plots like jiraya and itachi. Sure there was the pain arc but what made pain great not mentioning his character appeal is all those sacrifices like konoha getting destroyed , jirayas death, hinata's i love you to naruto etc

Also gaara was marginalized to almost a no character to gohan levels...... LIKE WTF KISHI? It just focused on sasuke and naruto but its worth saying that naruto and sasuke have the best rivalry in all of manga
