Controversial I used to love OP

It affects my enjoyment. Maybe it’s the fake out deaths maybe it’s gear 5 maybe it’s the lack of stakes maybe its taking FOREVER for Akainu to do something. I fell out of love after Katakuri but I had hope for the Yonko. Then this evaporated with Luffy learning Conqueror coating mid fight lmao.

I think people doompost about it too much honestly
It's bad now but there's still a lot of fun things about it. I really like Loki, Gaban, Xebec, Sommers and even Harald (I used to hate Harald but I'm kind of seeing his appeal now, even if he's not the most intelligent character), and I also think Elbaf is probably the best designed place in OP. Oda's not nearly as good as he was before, that's pretty obvious from Wano, but sometimes he can simulate the level of writing he did in his prime.

Didn’t we all? Oda stopped writing with a real story in mind years ago. One Piece isn’t a narrative anymore, it’s a corporate machine. The priority clearly shifted from storytelling to squeezing every last dollar out of the brand. Just another example of something completely ruined by a profit first capitalistic approach.

It makes sense if you´ve been reading the same, somewhat repetitive story for years. It´s not the end of the world, but it´s ultimately going to be a bit embarrassing in the future, the fact that Oda has already kept his story going on over a decade after his peers finished their own, extremely long running shonen battle manga(Kishi, Kubo), and there´s probably about 5-10 years left, meaning Oda is probably going to outlist another gen of shonen manga. This is def going to deter more people from reading OP in the future, decades later and so on.

Look at Dragon Ball for example, it´s so popular so many years later, because it only ran for 11 years, and in some countries people didn´t even really watch the first half. It´s not as hard to get into as OP is.
