So if he is zoan, then:

Is his normal rubber body his zoan transformation?

And is it the nornal animal one, not the hybrid??

Normal rubber body- animal
Gear4: hybrid zoan

But what about gear5: if it's his hybrid transformation or normal animal one then why only his awakening allows him to transform. And is there a new.mode we didnt see yet.

Maybe gears are his hybrid zoan form.

The real question is that, how did luffy realised about gears? did he do it instinctively because they are his hybrid zoan form, or he did it with his ingenuity, because at this point I don't feel like luffy did it with his intelligent.

Gear 2, Gear 3, and Gear 4 (Boundman, Tankman, Snakeman) are his "zoan transformations", while Gear 5 is his awakening transformation. Luffy's fruit works fundamentally different from other zoan's because it relies on the power of imagination and creativity. Rather than being locked to a full and hybrid form, the user has to use their ingenuity to create multiple transformations through the use of their rubbery body. That's the best way I can explain Luffy's fruit in comparison to more conventional zoans; but mythical zoans usually work differently than regular zoans. Marco for example can conjure and utilize his flames, as well as have an inherent regeneration factor all while being in his human form. Luffy's base rubbery body can be compared to that.

It's quite obvious that Luffy developed them himself, through creativity.

Imo
-Base Luffy is hybrid Luffy (a man with rubber characteristic , somewhat like hybrid Marco when he has wings and his legs are phoenix but his body is human)
-Gear 2-4 are his transformation
-Nika is his awakening

Now that i think about it, why Luffy didn't awakened his fruit in marineford ? He almost die to Akainu :lusalty:

No, I'd compare base Luffy to base Marco since Marco can produce flames and automatically regenerate while in his base form. His gears are his transformations.

Luffy's power is similar to that of Chopper's Points and not your typical standard mythical zoans like Kaido's Seiryu. Luffy have different "countless" forms that he can make (like Gears). Sengoku might also have different forms due to his Hito Hito fruit.
I guess Chopper also ate a Hito Hito that means a lot.

He probably doesn't have one, Luffy's fruit is already special, nothing suggests it has to behave like other Zoans.

Though if he does have one, it might be the form we see him in currently against Kaido, and he might showcase turning into Nika fully at some point.

Hmm 🤔 interesting, his gears could be his hybrid and transformation then (he transform into somewhat like deity (hyogoro comment on G4)), ehh, Luffy fruit is weird for now, just wait Oda explains it more
You probably have to actually die for it to awaken. Almost isn't enough.
:milaugh: true i guess, and some people don't believe that Luffy died for a sec there

--Luffy is a human model ; like a pure human one. Nika most likely looked like a normal person with rubber abilities so luffy is always in his hybrid/full form like chopper is always in hybrid form

--G5 is luffy's awakening

The true answer: Bad writing.

Luffy's devil fruit has never been and will never be a zoan type; It's a paramecia.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not trying to deny the words of the series' author; Of course, if Oda decided to call it zoan, then it's officially zoan now.

But my point is that he doesn't know what he's doing by ruining a premise that had been established throughout all the series about how the types of devil fruits work.

According to the explanation about devil fruits accepted for over 20 years, Luffy's devil fruit is still a paramecia, since it works as a paramecia, and it has just awakened, just like Doflamingo's devil fruit power, so he can turn things around him into rubber as well.

Retconning it now by claiming it's a zoan type is totally silly and unnecessary. And it even puts in doubt whether or not there are paramecia types to begin with; Just like in Luffy's case, now all the names of the paramecia devil fruits can be changed into "human-human fruit model (some kind of god)".

According to our understanding of Devil Fruits so far his Zoan transformation is G5, his regular rubber body(along with the gears) are his human form and he hasn’t displayed his hybrid form yet. For those who say that G5 is his awakening; there’s nowhere mentioned that awakening for Zoans is a separate form
