Its visibly 3 pistols, but he actually has 4 pistols, and perhaps more than 4.

We've seen that BB went after Boa Hancock and fodderized her, and said he wanted her power as well, so that would make 2 Paramecia for BB, he wasn't after a Zoan.

We know BB can steal Paramecia DF abilities, but we don't know if he can do the same for Zoans, since Gorosei said Zoans are different.

If BB is not about only 3 abilities / 3 pistols theme, if its about more than that, then perhaps Oda will add multiple Paramecia DFs abilities to Blackbeard. Perhaps 3 Skulls were just showing that BB can have more than 1 DF, after all, you can put 15 skulls on a Jolly Roger, you need to agree on a number to show that he can take multiple powers, so perhaps Oda randomly choose 3 skulls for BB Jolly Roger, and he was planning to give him more than 3 DFs powers. This is also a possibility.

And the other possibility is 3 DFs only: 1 Logia, 1 Paramecia, 1 Zoan. Perhaps as expected Oda will do this.

Because Oda said, BB's Animal theme is Hippo, if he isn't going to give him a Mythical Hippo Zoan, no point on revealing that at this point unless Oda isn't planning a Zoan for BB, then that could be the reason why Oda revealed that already because he isn't going to give him a Zoan.

Also notice that BB's crew usually has Paramecia DFs as well:
- Augur: Warp Paramecia
- Burgess: Strength Paramecia
- Shiryu: Invisibility Paramecia
- Doc Q: Disease Paramecia
- Sanjuan: Unknown Paramecia

- Lafitte, Pizarro, Vasco Shot have unknown DF powers.

- Aokiji has Logia.

- Catarina Devon, and Stronger are Mythical Zoans.

Majority theme for BB pirates looks like Paramecia.

So it could be for BB:

-Darkness Logia as main power,

-Multiple Paramecia DFs, the first one was Tremor DF, then another multiple Paramecia DFs, that he could use depends his opponents match-ups.

This could be the route that Oda go with BB.

The three skulls is about his three personalities not DFs. I've never personally connected Blackbeard's skulls or pistols to the number of DFs that he can it, it was popularized by other people. But I do sincerely believe–and there are evidence for it—that Blackbeard has three personalities.

We've seen Blackbeard to behave like above maintained personality traits many times.
Blackbeard can sometimes be very smart, very cowardly and very brave, but never all three at the same time. Which does sport the theory of multiple personalities, and he might even have more than three as far as we know.

Last chapter via Vegapunk also confirmed that Paramecias are easy to copy compared to Zoans and Logias. Perhaps that's how BB was able to steal Tremor DF, which is Paramecia. Then he could steal multiple Paramecias as a possibility.

Symbolically, BB having three different types of Devil Fruits would be cool. But, him having multiple Paramecia fruits isn't impossible either. I don't mind any of those two options btw.

True, but you forgot to mention that he can steal them AND gift the fruit to one of his crewmates just like he did with absalom´s fruit giving it to shiryu and probably all other fruits inside his crew.

With that in mind, he can deduce that he either had no one in his crew fit to use her fruit or he simply didn´t want to steal it for himself. As a matter of fact, he was trying to make her his wife so it makes sense he didn´t steal it.

What takes us to the third question: why did he want hancock´s fruit? It´s a very specific fruit that only works in the hand of an extremely attractive individual, preferably a woman, this fruit would be dogshit on his hands LOL.

We've seen that S-Snake also turning people into stones, that has a look of a child, I doubt they turn into stone because of that LOL.

They also said if you have any emotions negative or positive any kind, that DF works. So probably thats why BB wanted it. If you show any kind of emotions, that DF works for some reason.
