Imu is a banana

...Challenge accepted! *Cracks knuckles* Let's go bananas!

First off, Bananas are a fruit. Which is kind of fitting for Imu. One of the big bads of this world, which is known for it's creative Devil Fruits, literally turning out to be able to transform into a Fruit, kind of works well for this story. We haven't seen very many fruit-themed Devil Fruits...perhaps because they're too POWERFUL! The greatest threat to this world is a powerful Devil Fruit...and Imu can literally turn into the most powerful Fruit of them all.

Also, fun fact, Bananas are technically a berry. Which may explain why the currency in this World is called "the berry". The reason why money in this World is called "Berry" is because the leader of this world can literally turn themselves into a giant berry!

Let's get this out of the way, now. Bananas are probably best known in the west for being phallic symbols. And as we've seen before...Imu seems to have a thing for blue-haired girls. Especially Lili, or those who look like her. So, if Imu's entire character motivation does turn out to be some form of "love" or "lust"...it would actually make sense for Imu to turn into a literal symbol of that desire, now wouldn't it?!

Bananas come in bunches! Each banana is connected to each other by the stem. Does this not perfectly represent Imu's relationship to the Gorosei and God's Knights. They all get their power from Imu who works as the central source for their abilities. Just as all the bananas in a bunch are connected to their stem, so are the God's Knights connected to Imu! The symbolism is perfection!

Banana Trees are of the genus Musa. MU-sa! Oda's been foreshadowing this from day one!

Most of the bananas you can buy in stores are actually Cavendish Bananas. Cavendish! The man with a oddly never explained split personality! Could Cavendish and Imu be connected?! Perhaps of the same bipolar race? Perhaps somehow connected to other members of this "Heterochromia Tribe" that could include Gunko and Imu's Assistant!

Bananas keep well if you keep them in a refrigerator. And what does Imu have beneath Pangaea Castle? That's right! A freezing storing their Giant Frozen Strawhat!

One of the greatest threats to the Banana is insects! Could this be why many members of the Gorosei and God's Knights refer to commoners as "insects"?!

Bananas are also known for being used in zany comedy shananigans. And One Piece IS known for being pretty wacky and comedic at times. A symbol of cartoonish silliness that we all have to try and take seriously as one of the main villains of this story. It's the contrast that helps make One Piece special.

Bananas also have "strings". These are called "phloem bundles", and they act as the fruit's "plumbing", bringing water and nutrients to different areas of the fruit. They're basically the veins and arteries of the fruit. Imu is shown controlling people and changing their "hearts" with mind control. Puppeting people...like they were on strings. And altering their minds and hearts...after "injecting" them with their "strings". Using the banana's natural "plumbing" to bring "evil nutrients" to their hearts...ingenious!

Also, did you know the famous Forbidden Fruit from the Bible story of Adam and Eve? Well, some scholars think it wasn't a apple, like it's commonly depicted in media. They think it was...a banana! The banana is actually a symbol of corruption, the source of all evil! Which is pretty fitting for a villain to have, don't you think?

Alternately, Bananas are also considered to be "pure" fruits, fit to be offered to the Gods, in various religions. If you cut a banana, the seeds inside form a Cross. It's one of the Three Royal Fruits in India, alongside the Mango and Jackfruit!

In Indonesia, there are stories of a female pregnant vampire-like creature that lives inside of Banana Trees, called a Kuntilanak. The Thai have a similar myth, called the Nang Tani. Could Oda have taken some inspiration from these mythical creatures for Imu?!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nang_Tani

The Banana's peel is also full of latex. Which actually makes it a good source for...gum. The Banana is intrinsically connected to the Gum-Gum Fruit!

Bananas are also known for being high in Potassium. And Potassium is also known as "the salt of intelligence"! Potassium, along with sugars that Bananas also have in abundance, are natural brain food! Isn't that just perfect for a being with "psychic" powers, able to possess people or communicate across large distances?!

Have you ever heard of the term "Banana Republic"? It's a term for a unstable, corrupt country. Doesn't that perfectly define the World Government? And who better to be at the head of a Banana Republic...than a literal Banana?!

When bananas age, they turn black. And Imu is the oldest Banana of them all!

Truly the Banana is worthy of the title of...The King of Fruits! The Banana lore goes DEEP, my friends!
