Character Discussion Imu looks like a shadow person confirmed

According to Roger and Garp, Imu is "a dark monster".

So now it's confirmed, Imu is not a sillhouette, that's just how he looks like.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_person

"A shadow person (also known as a shadow figure or black mass) is a popular subject in circles of the paranormal and supernatural detailing beings resembling animate human shadows, sometimes interpreted as the presence of a spirit."

And with this, I want to mention something I brought up before again, when looking at the shadow people wikipedia page, there is a particular shadow person some people experience, named the Hat man

"One example of a particular shadow person is the "Hat Man", who shares the characteristics of general shadow people but is named for a fedora or other brimmed hat on his head. Descriptions of the Hat Man date back to as early as the late 2000s.[12] The Hat Man is commonly associated with sleep paralysis and the abuse of the antihistamine medicine diphenhydramine, commonly sold under the brand name Benadryl.[12] He is typically described as having very few or no discernible features, although some witnesses have claimed they can "feel him staring" at them."

Which could have to do with the strawhat

Well, Imu "possessing" someone looks like a shadow. I don't think we can say with 100% certainty that Imu's main body is all shadow, though.

It could be. All possibilities are on the table, with One Piece. It's possible that Imu literally is someone's shadow, like a villainous version of Peter Pan's shadow. (Imu as Nika/Joyboy's shadow, perhaps? That is literally possible given Moria's Shadow Fruit.) Or maybe Imu's a living shadow-being from another realm or dimension or something. (And alternate dimensions may be on the table for One Piece, if the Devil Fruits are literally tapping into the possibilities of different worlds.) It could even be as simple as there literally being a "Silhouette Tribe" that we've never heard about before in the manga. Another extremely rare race of people that is somehow incredibly important to the backstory of this world.

But, I'm betting not. I'm betting that Imu's main body does have a more detailed design. Because Oda likes designing characters too much to leave one with such a simple design. Especially a character that's so important. It is possible that Imu is literally cloaked in shadows. Because Imu does seem to want to hide themselves, for some reason. But, chances are, we will get to see what Imu looks like without the shadows, at some point.

I don't think Imu is all-shadow all the time. But, time will tell.
