Is dreaming like tapping into an alternative reality?

#1
Hey WG,

since my last dream, I've been pondering one question: whether we find ourselves in a different reality while we sleep.

In my dream, some things were different from reality. My uncle was once again part of the family, even though in reality, my aunt had separated from him. My mother was in a wheelchair and unable to walk, although this is not the case in reality.

What's fascinating is that everything feels real. So real that during sleep and dreaming, you seemingly lose touch with reality.

Today, I had two dreams - one lucid and one regular.

Even when I was aware that I was asleep, everything still felt genuine and real.

So, would it be wrong to entertain the idea that when we sleep, our souls travel to an alternative dimension?

Best regards,
Burak

No not in any way.

Dreams are where you see what your mind is anxious/concerned about i guess. Sometging like that.

Alternate dimensions, timelines, etc. is all bullshit made up by science fiction writers. There is no evidence for any of it and when you sit and think about it, it actually doesnt make any sense.

Scienitfically, dreaming is the way of our brain to process daytime events.
Your dream just reminded me that a while ago, I dreamt myself in a wheelchair. But that was probably because I had knee pain and felt like a cripple at the time I dreamt this. If you dreamt the same about your mother, maybe you fear for her health in some way?

I don't think it's an alternative dimension, but sometimes I feel (and it might be nonsense) that dreams could be a portal to souls in the afterlife. I dream of my late grandma whenever I'm at a crossroad in my life, facing uncertainty or a choice I have to make. I could dream just of walking to her old home, or even meeting her and consulting her just like I used to do when she was alive. Happens to me a lot.
I also dreamt once of my late mother-in-law, who asked me to tell everyone that she's watching over them. And I woke up and delivered the message to my husband. I'm not sure if he believed me, though.
