Is Eustass Kidd dead/never being seen again?

LMAO
Knowing Oda it'd probably never happen though.
Honestly speaking, if Oda really gave a shit about Kidd, he could have some of the most tragic, brutal and compelling writing in One Piece.
For example, let's say we keep him being obliterated by Shanks and his crew, as a parallel to what happened to Moria losing his entire crew pemanently in the New World, as implied by the hands of Kaido most likely, although Oda seems to not give a fuck about that anymore either, but I digress.

Now, imagine Kidd's backstory was in the manga including the history of his ship Victoria Punk, why he called it Victoria Punk specifically I mean, his tragic history with Victoria and his extremely rough childhood and his rise to greatness and becoming a Supernova and a rival of Luffy (he is a rival to Luffy whether anyone likes it or not BUT Shonens dont always like to have "equal/fair rivalries" either).

Imagine Kidd got multiple arcs of setup too, like he was supposed to originally. Let him get to know Luffy and the SHs and they get to know him and his crew too ideally. Set up a real genuine Goku-Vegeta, Deku-Bakugo, Naruto-Sasuke/Neji etc whatever rivalry. (I've already seen Kidd compared to Kiba, don't need to bring it up sigh lol).

Hell, even Toei gave him more respect than Oda has by far. In a recent episode, Henry Thurlow, the Aura troll himself who was also responsible for that AMAZING scene of Kinemon and the Scabbards rushing to Kaido and it being so brutal, stylish, bloody and swift, with the classic Samurai films and even Kill Bill vibes, did something genuinely wonderful and amazing for Kidd this episode, well I assume it was his idea/doign anyway and that was throwing in Kidd's history as a bunch of slides into the beginning of the episode apparently, when he didn't have to unless Oda or a director or someone superior at Toei demanded it? Idk.

Kidd was always doomed by being based on William Kidd and maybe, just maybe, Oda is trying to make us think he's playing Kidd straight on the influences of William Kidd and thus his extremely bad luck ridden and thus inevitablly doomed fate BUT given Oda's fetish for death fake outs, baits, twists, suspense and such, he will have Kidd miraculously survive and return in future, just without anywhere near the glory he once had and recently gained especially.
Kidd is unfortunately Moria 2.0 but Moria is a complete goat to me too, I think he's fantastically written and a trully misundersood, nuanced, noble, tragic, awesome character, just like Kidd himself so for me its also ironically the perfect comparison, influence and parallel for Kidd too.

Bandwagons love to ride and stan the most popular and succesful characters, I mean why not? Its like gassing up the most succesful, popular celebrities/atheletes/businessmen and women and such.
Its much easier and safer to stan charactes who get infinite plot armour, bias from the author, retcons, anything to keep them safe, successful, blessed etc regardless if they deserve it or not. Much easier to find a support network of likeminded people and thus feel less alone too.

If people really gave a shit about writing, then regardless of "Ws and Ls", regardless of feats, they would also enjoy characters like Moria and Kidd, especially if they have any empathy or compassion too. But a lot of people are clout chasers, hype hoggers, bandwagoners and so on. Winners are far more popular after all ofc.

I know that's gonna sound smug/condescending/sanctimonious/egotistical or whatever, but considering Kidd is one of the most trashed on characters, both in the story and outside of it with the fandom, I honestly don't care either. It's hard to be a fan of Kidd without people trying to slander you and him and rub it in your face about what happened to him and how Oda clearly favours certain other characters, especially Shanks, Luffy, Zoro, Law etc (almost all swordsmen too funnily enough) but od forbid you criticise those characters, make fun of them or even suggest they should suffer more losses/defeats and "L's" just like Kidd has too lol.

Even though he revealed it in a SBS, I'm still really grateful to Oda for giving us Kidd's backstory regardless finally as well an awakening for him too. I'm extremely salty over him and Shanks but that's another topic. Kidd's backstory is really respectful to his character and adds to why he is the way he is, as I suspected. It explains a lot and justifies his personality and beliefs a lot. I'm grateful to Oda for that at least, as well as imo some awesome new moves and awakening too.

If Oda had given Kidd proper screentime and development like he did to Law for SEVERAL arcs and well over a decade now, it wouldn't be as bad in some ways at least. At least Kidd would have been a full fledged character and not written out the story prematurely and wasted, just like Ace was and now Oda has to make retcons and abuse the hell out of flashbacks and contrived, convenient characters and writing in general to try to not make it seem like it was a mistake to kill off Ace so suddenly like that.

I honestly don't even put it past Oda to throw in reverse time travel and have Luffy go back and stop Ace's execution for good this time, making sure he never dies to Akainu or anyone else and lives on, getting to reunite with Sabo and reuniting the 3 brothers into a completely new future at some point. I think it's too far into the story for that now and Oda already drew a fake chapter of Sabo saving Luffy and Ace Marineford which I loved but then he threw it back in our faces anyway with making it just be a dream too.

If Oda had given Kidd proper writing, way beyond what we got now, I wouldn't mind his overwhelming, immediate defeat to Shanks like that. Shanks has been said from the beginning and many times, that he has a truly FEARSOME, UNSTOPPABLE wrath when angered and he HATES seeing his friends get hurt or worse, which has greatly influenced Luffy too ofc and we also saw to great effect when Kidd stupidly tried to brutally wipe out Shanks' allies for no reason, especially given how they were said to be extremely weak and under Shanks' protection. , Hell we still don't even know how or why Kidd lost his arm to Shanks's crew before but all we know is that he never met Shanks before either.

Shanks taking out Kidd could have been amazing if it had been given more time to be setup for and thus echoing what happened to Moria in the past but for Luffy's generation and this era. It could have even helped to setup animosity/conflict between Luffy and Shanks potentially, showing Luffy a completely different side to Shanks upon hearing about this or even witnessing this for himself maybe and thus giving Luffy a true reason to actually want to fight Shanks and defeat him, beyond trying to prove to Shanks that he is a great pirate now, that he should keep the Strawhat and Shanks being a fellow, open, deliberate rival to the Pirate King throne and One Piece now too and thus one of the biggest obstacles for Luffy for them now too.

The way Oda handled Kidd vs Shanks was just truly apathetic to me and felt like Oda trying to regain our trust as Kidd fans after well over a decade of neglect/abandonment, not caring about us then feeding us some hype, some hope suddenly, gaining our trust again, only for him to wait till we truly let our guards down and felt happy and grateful to Oda again, to just brutally sucker punch us in the most insulting, brutal and permanently affecting way possible, for maximum EMOTIONAL DAMAGE like the two faced, conniving, asshole troll that he is lol.

A small part of me believes there is a slim hope Oda is not done with Kidd and he just used him as a hype tool for Shanks, including reminding us of how Shanks hates his friends being targeted and hurt or worse and having devstating consequences for those who try, by his own hand too. Also hyping him up as the Haki God again, a Yonko, the disciple/hononary son of Roger and protege of Rayleigh and so on blah blah.

Kaido beat Luffy 4 times now. Granted he never killed or even defeated Luffys crew and the Scabbards filled in for Luffys crew getting defeated or even killed (well death fake outs courtesy of Lolda), due to the Strawhats having near invincible/unstoppable plot armour at least that prevents them from dying (plot immortality even), yet Kidd has only lost twice to Shanks, first time Kidds wasnt anywhere near as strong as he is now, not remotely and 2nd time, was at the hands er hand of Shanks himself directly too.

I have a small, slim hope Kidd will return and Elbaf will be his arc as I hoped it might be, although I think Egghead should and would have been perfect for Kidd too, but alas. Maybe my theory and hope of him and Law banding together and forming a new crew of the remaining Supernovas to compensate for their lost crews (some of the other Supernovas seem to be missing their crews post TS too, except for Capone and maybe Urouge too at least ofc) and maybe Kidd and Law will find and recover their old crews or and even Ace's old crew the Spade Pirates somehow as well.
If Kidd and Law can create some kind of Cross Guild type Supernova Alliance and try to rain vengeance on Shanks and Blackbeard, that would be fucking amazing imo. I don't have much faith in Oda for doing that at all at this point, but I want to believe and have hope he will too.

It's fucking frustrating hearing the same NPC shit of kicking Kidd whilst he's down and having the same basic, bandwagon takes of "hurr durr, Kidd took the Ls, Kidd doesnt know Haki, Law did most of the work vs BM, Kidd is fodder, Shanks neg diffed Kidd, Useless Craptain/Captive Midd" etc. Far too easy to clown on Kidd whilst this has happened to him and the story has constantly been against him, especially because of Oda insisting on paralleling William Kidd as much as possible, but that doesn't stop people getting off on kicking someone whilst they're down, like the shaemeless bullies they are.

I've noticed patterns with certain characters that "rivalries" or "parallels" like Sanji and Zoro, where Sanji got WAY more new backstory, got at least 1 major dedicated arc revolving around him, a bunch of new plot relevant, canonical, named family members etc whereas where Wano was supposed to be Zoro's major personal arc, he barely got to do anything except fight, make false promises and never visit Ryuuma's grave, amongst other things, thanks a fucking lot Frauda.

Same shit with Kidd and Law, Oda clearly favoured Law a LOT more since the post TS as we saw from as early as Punk Hazard at least (oh the irony) and even added lethal amounts of salt to the gaping wound by saying "Oh I expected Kidd to be a much more important and popular character, but Law was instead. How surprising, tee hee." Fucking troll Oda.

Fuck man, if Oda put the same kind of rent free energy instead of apathy or malice into Kidd trying to hype him up as much as you guys hate on him, slander him, trash him etc, he would be a much more successful and even better written character than he already is too.

Anyway thats my usual Kidd related rant/essay/Ted Talk (Kidd Talk) over lol. I know what I say on this shit will go over most (not all ofc) people's heads as usual and get ignored and I'll get flamed/slandered as usual, w/e lol.

The way Oda wrote Kidd vs Shanks is just the ultimate fuck you and his way of saying, "you've served your purpose Kidd now GTFO, you're not welcome here anymore, I'm done with you."

Oda with Kidd post Wano basically:

Fuck Oda, man.
(Also I dont hate Law btw, I love him and especially Bepo, they're both fantastic. Same with Sanji and Shanks. I don't hate any of those characters all regardless of how Oda writes them. It's the author's fault for writing them that way too, whatever their faults/issues are too.)
