Speculations Is Oda really setting up for Akainu vs Luffy?

#1
Many people think that Akainu will be one of Luffy’s last major opponents, but has he been setting it up that we’ll Post-TS? Oda hasn’t made Akainu look threatening at all Post-TS, and he hasn’t had much of a presence. We saw Akainu get trash talked by the Gorosei, disrespected by his subordinate, Fujitora, and cower out of sending troops to Wano. If Akainu was supposed to be one of the final antagonists, why not do more setup for it throughout the TS?

Just look at BB. We haven’t seen much of him Post-TS, but when we first heard of him, we learned that he had become one of the Yonko, which are the pirates Luffy said wants to beat, and had also taken over most of WB’s territory. Then in Dressrosa, he antagonizes Luffy by trying to have one of his men steal Ace’s fruit. After Dressrosa, he attacked the Revolutionary Army’s HQ, again antagonizing Luffy since he attacked Luffy’s father and brother. Then we see that the BB is planning to steal something really valuable. Blackbeard seems like he’s actually doing stuff, while Akainu has done basically nothing but bark

And Akainu has done absolutely nothing since then
How do you know that? The plot hasn't gotten to him yet. There's so much going on with the Marians, SSG, the WG drama, the Revaluationaries, CP0, Sword and in the center of it all is Akainu as the new leader of the Marines. Oda is intentionally keeping the most juiciest ports of the story hidden because ha hasn't gotten enough plot left, he's milking the series with stupid arcs like WCI and Wano to further stretch the inevitable end. Akainu cannot leave his office as the leader of the Marians, he now commands the three Admirals, so don't expect him to appear in the heat of action any time soon. But there will come time when Oda will finally show what he's been up to all this time, what Akainu was doing, what he was planning and most importantly what his motivation is.

Akainu vs luffy is bound to happen no matter how many threads with IQ yanker you make
But why doesn’t Akainu have a more proactive role in the story of this is the case? What has Akainu done Post-TS?
Post automatically merged:

Yes, Akainu will be stronger as time go on so don't worry about Luffy mid diffing Akainu or less.
I don’t see Akainu pushing EoS Luffy to high diff. At Marineford, Luffy was too weak to protect himself from Akainu. At EoS, Luffy will be strong enough to dominate Akainu. It’s poetic

>Literally the reason why the timeskip happened as he made Luffy realize how powerless he is
There's no villain with has more proactive role in story. Not even Blackbeard

I never thought Akainu would be the final villain or even an opponent of Luffy. Of course Luffy has to pay him back for the scar but must like Sentomaru Luffy left Akainu in the dust a long time ago. Admirals never showed the capability of island busting. They are capable of taking island busting punches but I firmly believe splitting the sky is a much more impressive feat than island busting. I didn't know who exactly would be the opponents of the admirals but as Luffy moves on he's collecting people with admiral level potential. Yamato if she joins by EOS is good enough to high diff akainu. It would be nice for Sabo to get someone more interesting than Akainu but Oda seems to be putting a limit on Sabo's potential. The way things are progressing I could see somebody like Jenbe taking on the task

I don't see Akainu as all that particularly strong wanted him to keep that dominance but feat wise he's being left in the wind. Wano had impressive warriors but according to the manga Elbaf is the strongest nation. It would even be satisfying for Luffy's commanders to take Akainu down. I don;t know how Akainu defeated Kuzan but Kuzangives off more protagonist or hero energy than Akainu. Their are certain characters that just give off legend vibes like Noland, Calagra, fisher oden or Garp. Most of these people die before reaching their true potential or in hindsight of the current manga are are defeated by Luffy.

Akainu is just a benchmark for whatever legend has to break that barrier. Even krieg had an aura of this guy keeps getting stronger he'll be a . Smoker had hella heart and progression even croc and moria had that resolve to be monsters. Akaniu just walks around with his latent talent and magma fruit and goes for the kill. Atleast with Kuzan and kizaru you get some emotion when they fight. Even when zeff cut off his foot and stood on that rock staving and bleeding to death you looked at him and said this guy is a fucking beast. Akainu taking off WB's face was about as satisfying as rear admiral strawberry fatally wounding Fisher tiger. If he had the personality of Z I could see him pushing boundaries and giving Luffy a good fight but he seems more like Kaidou who is just a vague ceiling waiting to be broken by somebody of actual interest. For our sakes I hope Akainu is beaten by a much less important enemy. Even when he interrupted Sengoku's story of rocks he just seemed like a blackhole sucking in all the interest of the one piece world. He's like a fat mcdonald's manager that comes in late everyday just to interrupt the fun everybody is having at work.

Akainu will be defeated by Tashigi.

Because the final villain should be continuously set up, not just do one major thing 500 chapters ago
Oda isn't able to keep up a hype for a character. Whatever makes a character amazing in one arc is completely erased in the next arc. It's as if Oda has to keep reinventig his characters. For example Axe kick is one of Luffy's most devastating mechanics. Before pulling out Gomu gomu no storm Luffy should have placed a nice axe kick to crocodiles skull making the fight more believable. Elephant gattaling which we all wanted to see on an actual opponent is nigh nonexistent. Usopp's performance against luffy was like 15 years ago and we haven't seen him go out against an opponent like that since. Even Sanji vs Luffy was one of the more better coregrraphed exchanges and Sanji finally get a good opponent and I can really tell you what he did to queen because it was a jumbled mess. I think that's why Amazon lilly, Impel Down and marineford were such classics because we got to see characters just going all out and not flying by the seat of their pants. Luffy finally gets to fight a giant and he doesn't do any goofy moves or create something weird he just whips out Gear third and we see a fist half the size of a giant himself knock him completely silly.

Blackbeard was the perfect end villain for Luffy back in mocktown IMO Oda messed that up when Blackbeard begged Whitebeard for his life. Big mom was the perfect reoccurring villain to constantly plague luffy and chase him but Oda messed it up with hunger tantrums; Croc and Moria were the perfect throwback villains to get reintroduced into the mix but Oda messed that up by making Moria a punching bag for newer characters and making croc a newspaper reading invalid. Coc was the perfect performance indicator until Oda threw it to characters like Kidd whos just wants to part action and Zoro who was fine without it. Usopp was the perfect relatable character for the audience until Oda made him a stagnant repeat victim.

Smoker and Issho were the perfect marine rivals until... i think you get my point. Oda lost his ability to keep his own characters relevant to to the point where the last 12 years the jobs of the strawhats were delegated to whatever random characters Oda can comeup with and he's running out of ideas. You can see it if you compare Enis Lobby with Wano. In enis lobby you have two giants, a judge we thought had three heads buy were really just three separate people, a giraffe, a soap woman an owl thing and a wolf. In wano we have a chicken with a gorilla coming out of his asshole. Every once and awhile Oda gets luck with a Kanjuro or a baron Tamago that is interesting a makes us laugh but certain things he does it just seem like he pulled the idea out of his ass. For example making Killer a laughingstock or kiku armless. It's been ten years and I still don't know what Law's plan was for beating Kaidou. The key to beating Kaidou is ryou but Law had no idea what that was and never learned it. It's the disadvantage of Oda taking to long on his arcs and trying to make them all coincide when really All luffy had to do was sail to the island and slowly chip away at the enemy until he fought the big bad.

imu has the decency to stay in the shadows which I hope he does before Oda starts doing stuff like saying his brother was bonclay or he was born a dwarf and was giantized by the vinsmokes.
