Is Renpa still 'peak'?

Renpa not only aged, he lost the two most vital of his 4 kings. To top it off the Chu are too proud to be lead by a foreigner. I still have no doubt he’ll have his time to shine again, most likely in a clutch situation that threatens Chu’s existance.

It's been about 10 years since Sanyou and his stats haven't decreased at all.

Do you think he's currently at his Sanyou-level?
He is currently at his 70s or close

I don’t think he is still as strong physically or it would be a bit weird

but leadership and smart should be the same as before

To be honest, I don't think Hara actually cares for age. He leaves the age of his characters pretty ambiguous to begin with.

There are hardly any characters in this manga that look any older than when they first appeared despite how many years have passed.

Unless Hara specifically goes out of his way to emphasize Renpa's age then I am just going to assume that Renpa is still at the same level that he was introduced at.

Folk should remember that while Kingdom is based on historical events, it is very much a historical fantasy setting with spirits and superhumans. Hara can just decide that age just doesn't affect strong people in this verse like it does in real life.

I also think Mougou said something about Renpa still being still at his physical prime or something like that by the time of Sanyou - and it's not like Renpa was a young guy back then.

But yeah no reason to assume he got any weaker if we don't receive anything from Hara in that sense.

Unless he goes out of his way to state it he isn't any weaker.

His army took a hit tho with only two of the heavenly kings now left.

How much of a shit does Hara give about ages tho, inbetween each war up to years might pass, is there any record for how long as Renpa been active?

Probably weaker but not much
This is still a manga
The fire dragons were in jail for a decade and a half and Gaimou didn't mention getting any weaker while he hasn't trained, fight or eaten properly

Probably not a single shit. Lol.

One of the few characters I can remember that has a confirmed age is Great General Choutou who was 65 years old when he died.
15 years old at beginning of career plus 50 year military record equals 65 years old.

Anyway, said 65 year old ripped right through Han defenses all while suffering from being poisoned and even refused to go down immediately after being hit with even more poison, poison that was downing healthy men half his age in seconds.

So yeah, I don't think Hara cares that much about the age of his characters in regards to their fighting ability.

So iirc, in the scene where Renpa spoke to the Zhao messenger, the kid literally introduced himself to Renpa who claimed he remembered him,

But then at the end of their exchange, Renpa called the kid by the wrong name despite the fact that this kid had just stated his name to Renpa minutes before. The kid even clarified his name under his breath after Renpa got his name wrong.

You might be inclined to think that Renpa just didn’t care enough to remember a name that he just heard 30 seconds ago, but Mougou stated that Renpa has a photographic memory so Renpa forgetting the kid’s name at all seems like a massive stretch to me.

I think this is Hara showing that Renpa is going just a bit senile with age. I don’t think it’s anything that will necessarily effect him on the battlefield, but we may see more little things like this from Renpa in the future, where he forgets things that are inconsequential or are otherwise irrelevant, but on the battlefield we won’t see any decline.

In terms of his strength? Nah, I don’t think he’ll decline. I think the only time we’ll really see Renpa fight in detail again is when Shin slays him (not a historical spoiler), and against Shin, Renpa will have awakened the flame that he sought to reawaken against Ousen and Kanki, so there will pretty much be no decline from him. Or if there is a decline in strength, it will be used for a narrative purpose (Renpa’s era having ended long ago and now is the new era) rather than his strength declining because of age.

I don’t think people realize how common old-man strength is among older men who keep themselves in shape lol. I have seen videos of 50 year old men easily out-lifting guys in their 20s because those old men kept up their training and stayed active, which Renpa is definitely doing.

That's an interesting theory but I don't think Hara will have given it enough thought to lay a subtle hint like that (and i also think having Renpa going senile is a bit disrespectful to the character and the real life individual who holds importance to the world Hara is exploring).

I think it's more likely that he just doesn't give a damn about the kid. Mougou may have made that statement, but that is regarding Renpa in war-mode.

Gekishin also had close to 60 years on the battlefield, right? That implies he would have been about 70?

If Three great heaven Renpa was at 100% I'd say current one is about 80%? Maybe less?

Logically he should've gotten weaker a bit but i don't see a massive drop in strength tbh.
