Character Discussion Is Sanji a pervert ?

Why did Oda chose to continue this portrayal of Sanji being a pervert and sexist ? Hell, his nosebleeds back in FMI was the cringiest thing that ever happened to this manga without a doubt.

Maybe it was "funny" twenty years ago but lets be honest, we evolve as society, things that were meant to be funny back in 1997 are not in the present, and some them are even suable in many western countries.

Idk about the Japanese culture but i find it strange that none of his editors or someone else didnt tell Oda that he should adapt Sanji's character to today's standards.

In a vacuum I would agree that sanji should change. Character is stale and unrelatable.

However given the current state of politics and online hysteria, I want nothing to change. Too many great things have been ruined by these standards, I hope Oda keeps him the same or make him worse.

If it's still there in Japan and WSJ doesn't let Oda tone it down, it means the culture is still exists. We have seen how Oda "adapts" to the "modern era", but Sanji's thing is still like that. Well, it can only mean one thing and you know it... Oda hates Sanji 🤣

the problem is the people who don’t like him will find anything to complain about

if Sanji acted differently you’ll all say

I think the problem is Oda didn't make it funny quirk like getting lost, or chopper being tsundere when complemented. He made it Sanji's entire personality.

Yea but the people who do that are a loud minority. The idea that you need to be uncompromising in your belief to the point of absurdity is not a great trait.

Like I just want him to think in his world some women are superhumans and don't need to be treated as maidens needing protection

The black maria situation should never have happened.

Sanji don’t treat women like maiden for being weak
If the world’s strongest man is actually a women Sanji would treat her the same
He just puts women first
