Today, I want to explain why I think Jesus Burgess will finaly get the Mera Mera Fruit and fight Sanji at the endgame, with the power of his third eye.
So, what symbolizes Burgess ? His name, his orange mask with a lily flower, his golden belt with a bird, his purple hair and his title of Champion.
1) His name
The One Piece Fandom page indicates that Burgess may be linked to Samuel Burgess and Josiah Burgess. There is no link with the bio of Samuel but indeed there is similarities with Josiah, especially with Blackbeard being mentioned :
I would also add another reference to his name in the person of Edward Burgess :
This designer drew the Fleur de Lys yacht, which is the french name for "Lily Flower" :
What is the role of Jesus Burgess on the Saber of Xebec ? Helmsman. What are the two boats linked to Josiah and Edward Burgess in their bios ? Providence and Fleur de Lys.
2) His mask
His wrestler mask represents an orange Lily Flower with two circles for the two holes of his eyes.
What does an orange lily flower symbolize in horticulture ? Desire, envy.
What do the three lily flowers symbolize in the royalty ? The Trinity : Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
The Trinity that we could relate to.. the Eye of Providence, the all-seeing eye of God :
What is a famous painting including that Eye of Providence ? Cena in Emmaus, Pontormo.
Oh, but, who's there ? Jesus.
3) His belt
In my opinion, the belt clearly represents a phoenix (which is also the name of a boat included in the Wiki page of Josiah Burgess) :
What does a phoenix symbolize ? Resurrection and flames. (Just look at Marco.)
Ok.. Flames ? Rebirth ? Does it ring a bell ?
4) His hair
His hair are purple. What did you eat today ? Pastas ? Cool ! What was the color of the gas hob.. ?
Orange ? Blue ? Purple ? Maybe.. all of them. But.. wait. These colors.. Could it be.. ?
Yup, these are the colors of flames :
Do you see that burning hair and that flaming beard of his just waiting for a light to ignite ?! Mirroring the Whitebeard and Ace scene, I believe Blackbeard and his crew will sadly succeed to get the fruits of Dragon and Sabo, fulfilling the trinity of Blackbeard fruits and the quest of Jesus to get the Mera Mera Fruit after the loss of Dressrosa. The Mera Mera is the personification of the reincarnation of Jesus, like a burning phoenix. He already fought Sabo. He is a villain. He needs revenge. He needs to kill his target and be hated for what he has done. And who caused the first big movement of the Revolutionary Army ?
Jesus unveiling the position of Baltigo. Doesn't something look weird to you in the last panel ? Jesus is hurt and.. UNMASKED. And, OF COURSE, a rock hides his blooding face, and how many eye do we see ? Only one. Too much shadow here, guys. Plus, we still have not seen him since this incident. Would he be disabled ? He looks to have lost a lot of blood and to be in bad condition. Would he need to.. be resurrected ? Some fire fruit would help him, that's for sure.
5) His title
So, Jesus is called a Champion. But he is pretty dumb, to be honest. What would have made him so special to Blackbeard ? Have we already heard of Teach worrying about how to read poneglyphs ? He was interested by Bonney, why not by Robin ? I think that, just like Big Mom, he is waiting for him to awake his three-eye power. We lack of characters from the Three-Eye Tribe, an arc is coming with them included, no doubt about it, and we will learn more about them, and Jesus.
So, to conclude :
- Jesus kills Sabo, the last brother of Luffy. Who would be considered the most like a brother in the crew ? Sanji. They fought like brothers loving and hating each other at Whole Cake Island.
- Jesus gets the Mera Mera fruit. Who discovered being a burning Lunarian ? Sanji.
- Jesus has the power of an all-seeing eye. Who has the ability to be invisible ? Sanji.
- Jesus is a bandit, a masked vilain. Who is a secret super-hero ? Sanji.
- Jesus is a Champion, a wrestler. Who is the best close-range combatant ? Sanji.
