i heard people saying joyboy soul is now taking over luffy, which i think not the case. luffy is still luffy only with joy boy ability.
for me a joyboy was a trancendent state, similar to DF awakening, but with combination of lineage a clan and a Unique devil fruit. which the WG hides and change the name,
this is why when kaido defeated luffy thinking he's dead he said,. "so you are not joyboyeither" cause he knows only a D can become joyboy.
i have also a theory the first joyboy was the first Devil fruit user, and D's had something to do with how devil fruits formed.
