Mr. I-Break-Your-Will somehow couldn’t make this old man who lost his family and country read him Poneglyphs for over a decade and when he escaped and remained on Mr. Strongest Creature’s island for over another decade, he did nothing to look for him.

Kaido is a bum. A stupid fucking bum. And god forbid Oda says Kaido didn’t know this man existed. Absolute fuckin incompetence

The hunt for the one piece is a farce. I would understand if it was so difficult to find poneglyphs that you have to be an exceptional explorer pirate to find it, but here we have big mom and Kaido who seem perfectly equipped to find multiple poneglyphs so why they haven’t reached laugh tale after decades meanwhile Luffy is speed running the journey is confusing

The one and only mcguffin Oda had for this was Robin. And here we are with Sukiyaki right there under Kaido’s nose and apparently even Pluton is right there in Wano and Sukiyaki knows it’s there and somehow 20 years pass with Kaido having done nothing

Oda did tell us that Kaido didn't know Hitetsus true identity by not having Kaido go after the man. Do you need to be spoofed that hard?

To become the pirate king, you have to read all 4 road poneglyphs. Kaido wasn't even aware there was one in Zou, didn't have access to the one at Big Mom's, and who knows where the last one is. Even if Sukiyaki had told him everything, both about the poneglyph and about Pluton, it wouldn't have made him the pirate king, only make him believe he is close. I believe Kaido knew something about Pluton, as he spoke of acquiring the 3 ancient weapons when he announced the New Onigashima plan. That hinted he probably had one in his possession already. Also, the secret he held from Yamato about why Wano might hint about Pluton.
Now, the fact that Sukiyaki was imprisoned and not executed means Kaido still needed him. Either he didn't tell Kaido everything, or he kept him to read future poneglyphs Kaido hoped to lay his hand on.
Sukiyaki was a shogun. He had years of political experience while Kaido was young and understood only force. Surely he could talk his way into manipulating Kaido to believe he broke his will while still keeping some secrets to himself.
