Hey strong woman and weak men!
Before you freak out, let me explain.
The first time we ever heard of the sun god Nika, it was in a flashback on Skypia. A Shandorian claimed she will meet “the sun god” (i.e. Nika) after her sacrifice. This is implying that Nika, well known for freeing the slave and bringing joy to the people, bringing them freedom and power, requires some kind of sacrifice, in the believing of the shandorians.
Then, over hundreds of chapters, we never hear about Nika again. Until suddenly Who’s Who is talking about it. He tells us, he got the story by some guard in impel down, which then suddenly vanished. The guard again told Who’s Who and other people Nika would come and free the slaves, Nika would be the ultimate savior for them. I think this guard back then was nobody other then.... King. But without his mask and now usual appearance, maybe even hidden his wings.
I think King was as “secret agent” in impel down and tried to gather pirates for Kaido their, promising some savior which is able to free them and give them joy again. He obviously couldn’t tell them straight away this is about Kaido, since the rumor could go to other parts of the prison and get to known by other guards, or even the lead. So he used the story of Nika to convince the prisoners to join Kaido.
This would also explain 2 other little plot holes. Firstly Kings unknown connection to impel down. His clothing still implies some connection there. And secondly it would explain how Kaido got caught several times and could escape, without breaking out of Impel Down. Because it was told never before were prisoners able to break out of Impel Down. This would be the truth, if Kaido didn’t break out, but freely just walked out, since King just opened the door. This is also the reason why the guard suddenly vanished some day. Because the fact a guard freed Kaido several times and this guard is in reality Kaidos first mate was revealed somehow.
So far so good. I summarize my theory for now:
-Nika brings freedom, joy and power
-Nika needs a sacrifice to be met
-Nika was only mentioned by shandorians before
-King (as guard) told Who’s Who about Nika
So, i still thing Who’s Who doesn’t know the Guard back then was King. I guess WsW followed the bread crumbs to meet the guard from back then again, which lead him to the Kaido Crew, but so far, he couldn’t reveal who it was. So i think the whole story of WsW was the entrance to the background story of King.
So, we come to King. In my theory, King is somehow related to the shandorians. A former proud, strong and faithful race. Since he is related to the shandorians or is even a pure shandorian, he knows about the Nika story and maybe is truely believing in that kind of religion. This is why he told the story to the imprisoners and why he could convince them, because he believes in it by himself.
So since King is highly believing in that story, it can be his main focus, even why he is with Kaido. He is building up Kaido as the strongest living creature, makes him the most strongest entity, the most powerful person in the world. So, the most strongest creature together with his wish to die. King is building him up to be the ultimate sacrifice to Nika. Such a powerfull and strong creature, together with all people dying on Kaidos way to be there, are the most impactful sacrifice. King thinks this is the ultima ratio to bring back wealth, power and joy to the shandorian folks, to the sky people and their destroyed existence. And Kaido is willing to stick to it, being this sacrifice with his death to fulfil the lifelong wish and desire of his first mate.
Summary:
King is the guard Who’s Who was talking about. King is believing in Nika, since he is a shandorian. He wants to use Kaido as ultimate sacrifice for Nika, to bring Shandora and the Sky Islands to glory.
