Character Discussion Katakuri's pride

#1
Why do people, or rather say Worstgen hate Katakuri for stabbing himself? That was great for me i loved it. That was the fight he was waiting for his whole life, he was never pushed this far back, ofcourse he wouldnt want to win with "Cheating", he had pride.

( English is not my first Language so sorry if its kinda bad )

it's understandable why he did it.
but it's not the only reason why i stopped liking him.

-he was okay with backstabbing the germa family at the wedding, which means he is not an honourable person.
-when the fight started kata said that he won't allow himself to underestimate luffy, and was doing everything he could to stop luffy from powering up to gear 4.
-during kata's short flashback we learned that he is extremely vengeful against anyone who harms his family.

kata committed 4 sins:
1-underestimated luffy when he stopped the fight for his merienda (fuck the doughnuts, that was stupid as fuck).
2-started respecting luffy who harmed members of his family.
3-weakened himself by inflicting a fatal wound on himself, started acting like an honourable guy which he isn't.
4-allowed luffy to power up.

oda really fucked up with katakuri's character writing.

Dont forget he killed innocent chefs.

It isnt about Katakuri having honour. Its that its inconistent to his character....because he wasnt honourable before. And of course hes honorable to the worst person he should be to. But anyways Meme is his mom...and shes inconsistent af as well. Runs in the family.

Katakuri yelled at His 15 years old sister for trying to help him

Think about that for a while

If your sister shot someone who broke into your house and tried to kill your mom would you yell at her?

It's worse because Luffy told Cracker "Stop whining we are pirates" earlier in regards to Nami
Lmao its hilarious how Luffy..."the good guy", is potrayed like that. Like dude was happy Nami was weakening Cracker for him.

I kinda respect that about Luffy. Pretty badass

Not a huge Katakuri fan or anything but I think the idea is meant to be that he grew as a person during the fight because he was inspired by Luffy’s never give up attitude.

Katakuri would not do that against everyone. It’s entirely possible that before he started fighting Luffy he wouldn‘t do it against anyone at all, no matter the circumstances.

But because he grew to respect Luffy, he was seriously disappointed when he thought Luffy had just made a stupid mistake, he then snaps when he finds out what really happened.

Plus there’s the thing with Flampe misjudging what Katakuri would want. So Katakuri’s also maybe thinking he’s hid his face and his true nature for a family who- older siblings aside- don’t understand him, while Luffy, his enemy, doesn’t care at all about what Katakuri considers to be his own flaws.

Which ties in to Sanji and Pudding, in a way.

Actually that was one of the most solid things I can remember about this character

I appreciated the gesture even though it cannot be praised too much cause he ended up damaging his own crew.

If you just look at the moment he cuts himself, you might get the wrong impression that he's honorable, but if you get the point, you'll see that this explanation doesn't make sense.

He simply attacks the cooks who admired him and were taking care of him simply because they saw his face, they never laughed at him, even worried when Luffy attacked Katakuri's room.

The explanation that makes sense is not that he is honorable, but just too much pride. He wasn't injured out of dignity, he was injured to prevent Luffy from spreading that he only lost an unfair fight, when that should be expected of a pirate fight.
