So, now that the Blackbeard Pirates have traded up on political hostages, there is a more likely chance of Teach ransoming Garp to have his regime become recognized by the WG.

But the big question to me is, why does he want this? Is it just an excuse for him to replace Doflamingo and Kaido's black market operations? Or does he want the Marines' power to crush Shanks?

Or maybe there's something at Mariejois he'd like to steal and all this is just a way to get a way in? What do you all think why he wants to be a WG King?

so, id imagine he wants to have official recognition and superior military strength

Then he would take over non-WG islands and grow until he can take on the WG

We know just like them that to get to the last poneglyph you need to find the man with the burn scar. Shiryu speculated that whoever it is might have ties to the world government making it almost impossible for any pirate to get his stone….
Meaning as you’re probably already putting together it explains why Blackbeard has been planning on capturing marines. More importantly it explains why he want pirate island to be an official world government kingdom. The closer they are to the world government the closer they are to that last poneglyph

I don't think will be any reasonable explanation. Otherwise he shouldn't have quit Shichibukai.

He is doing this after Shichibukai got abolished. So he knows Marines are never joining forces with pirates again.

Maybe he got scared of Seraphims and is trying to force himself to be out of Marines as a target. Since before it he shouldn't worry nothing.
