I've spent way too much time thinking about Zoro's swords, and I think I finally have the progression.

Since I have Zoro fighting Gorosei Ghandi... ahem, excuse me... "Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro", who clearly has the Shodai Kitetsu, I really want Zoro to bring the Nidai Kitetsu to the fight, so Zoro can "surpass" the superior blade.

Having two Kitetsu blades seemse a little... uh, overkill, so I figure, hey, that's the one that has to go.

BUT, I'm a Wano Act 4 truther, and part of me still wants Zoro to get Shusui back. I also want Zoro to keep Enma, and Zoro needs to retain Wado Ichimoji for Kuina/plot purposes (IE he has to fight Mihawk, the World's Strongest Swordsman, with Shusui, so they surpass him together).

So, I've been stuck on how to deal with Zoro having five swords he could potentially use (Sandai Kitetsu, Nidai Kitetsu, Enma, Shusui, and Wado Ichimonji), and how to narrow them down to three.

This is what I've come up with

Egghead: Zoro loses Sandai Kitetsu to Kizaru's light sword, Ama no Murakuo. Zoro struggled to beat a YC1, it makes sense for Admirals to still give him the business. He fights Kizaru after Saturn shows up and fights Luffy.

Wano: Zoro regains Shusui, and uses it to kill Kaido. Zoro gives Enma to Momo, after visiting Ryuma's grave and realizing he's a descendant of Ryuma. Zoro is hailed as a hero of Wano, and is given Shusui, and the Nidai Kitetsu.

And, I think that's the end line up, unless he takes the Shodai Kitetsu from Ghandi later:

Wado Ichimonji, Shusui, Nidai Kitetsu
Historically, Zoro has only lost his blades to strong enemies (Mihawk) or hax (the rust Fruit Marine guy, Shu, who rusted the other blade (Yubashiri) Zoro got from the Logue Town sword salesmen Ipponmatsu. It also makes sense for Momo to inherit Enma, since it was his father's sword, and once it kills Kaido, it will have fulfilled Oden's Will. Momo inheriting Oden's Two Sword Style just makes so much sense, and he needs another sword for that.

If Zoro loses Sandai in a fight, it's going to be when he's fighting a real monster. And that monster is Kizaru.

@EmperorKinyagi @nik87 (I hope Oda draws the Nidai dude soon so you can update your avi)

Nah Zoro isn’t worthy to even see Kizaru
I think Zoro and Sanji will fight Kizaru and get folded.

Foreshadowed by Aramaki wrecking King and Queen.

Zoro and Sanji are the strongest Yonkou Commanders, outside of the Red Hair Pirates and Blackbeard Pirates, but, they're not Admiral level.

Don't lie, I know you want to see Kizaru pack Zoro up like a lunch box.

Yeah, that's all he needs to break a sword, is a clash.

We are seeing Kizaru fight seriously in combat for the first time. It's going to be fun.
I agree that Kizaru will make a lot of people rethink their positions, but I don't see someone breaking Zoro's sword during a clash.

If it was a main fight, maybe. But just a clash would be quite too much.

Zoro does not need to have his sword broken to potentially pick up a better sword. Like, people DO remember he has a room on the Sunny, right? What is with this obsession of Sandai getting destroyed?

Zoro getting his sword broken in his first big fight after gaining the title of Swordsmaster would be dumb as fuck. Especially after having it drilled into his skull by Mihawk that shit is a shame for a master swordsman to get their blade so much as slightly nicked, much less broken.

Zoro wouldn't abandon a sword, IMO. If someone told him to trade one of his swords for a stronger one, he wouldn't do it, he wants to win with the blades he has.

Mihawk teaching Zoro that getting a blade damaged is bad is WHY I want to see it. Zoro needs to be challenged more to reach his peak. So far, Zoro has lost swords in each main act of One Piece: he lost two swords to Mihawk in Baratie in Romance Dawn in the East Blue, then lost one Sword in Paradise to Shu.

It's not that Zoro is weak. Kizaru is just that strong, and Zoro needs to become stronger.
