Some recent Mi-thoughts:
I still think Ray and Shakky are Mihawk's parents. I'm not sure about the timeline but Oda doesn't understand pregnancy either so it still might work.
Mihawk's eyes are a product of being born a male half-Kuja, similar to Hiei in YYH, who gained the skills of both his parents. Oda would totally do that.
Mihawk's "betrayal" that Oda alluded to in the sbs was likely related to Shakky. Something like he agreed to become a warlord in exchange for her safety. (I don't like the idea of her always needing to be protected, but I could see this being the case...)
Mihawk possibly grew up in the chaos of Hachinosu or the lawless zone of Sabaody. Maybe his "betrayal" was from trusting the pirates he knew back then.
Mihawk's speech style and poetic phrases are a result of him being "lost royalty" of Kuja. He affected a more elevated way of talking to distinguish himself from his rough surroundings.
So I know a lot of people are on the Mihawk-Imu train, but I'm really not. I think it would screw up his portrayal as a disinterested 3rd party antihero and create huge retcons all the way back to Baratie, but Oda doesn't seem to care about that anymore so it's definitely a possibility that I'm wrong. He is fully off the rails with the plot of this story so who knows?
Lastly, I have recently redone my Mihawk merch cabinet. Would you guys like to see it? I have nowhere else to share it so I thought I might post it here.
