He lost to Akainu, which was humiliating on a personal level and which enables Akainu to fill the heads of marines with Absolute Justice ideology. There is only one way to trump Akainu, Kuzan has to become a legendary hero. At Marineford, Garp inspired the marines more than Sengoku, even though he was only a Vice Admiral. Kuzan's goal is to become the next Garp. Garp became the legendary hero by bringing down the Rocks Pirate. Blackbeard is the modern Rocks, so Kuzan wants to play a role in bringing dem down. Garp didn't do it alone, he teamed up with Roger. Kuzan has to find the modern Roger and join forces. He wrongly considers Shanks the new Roger, many in the OP world do. Buggy just revealed that he expected Shanks to become the next Pirate King. Shanks even used Roger's attack Divine Depature not so long ago. Of course Shanks and Kuzan are not modern Roger and Garp, even though they are their students. They will fail and get defeated.
Saul is likely on Elbaf. He probably knows the Redhair Pirates and is friendly with them. When the Blackbeard Pirates attack Elbaf, Saul will fight with them. He will take on Sanjuan Wolf. In Ohara, he lifted a great battlehiship. In Elbaf, he will lift the Great Battleship Sanjuan Wolf. Kuzan will join Shanks in part to see his old friend again. Robin will later avenge Saul by defeating Wolf.
