General & Others Luffy’s relationship dynamics with each of his crewmates.

Not to diminish any of their friendships, and I’m sure there are some crucial examples I’m forgetting, but does anyone else here feel that Luffy has more active/interesting dynamics with Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji than the rest of the crew?

I guess one way it has to do with how I personally feel is something to do with how the pre-Grand Line recruits go about with Luffy’s thoughts and decisions. Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji definitely give me the impression that they’re more willing to disagree with Luffy and call him out, whether because of his carefree antics or serious decisions as Captain and how they move forward from that, which I think can be a way to provide for a more interesting relationship.

It doesn‘t necessarily have to be an argument and fight, even though a couple of Luffy’s crewmates have outright challenged and attacked him, but with Chopper and the rest, I think it can be at least understood how they can give a different vibe, right?

The East Blue 5 are just the main cast. They’re the heart mind and body of the Straw Hat Pirates. The rest are important but their secondary main characters. The major emotional scenes like Luffy vs Usopp or Luffy vs Sanji just work best with East blue 5 because they have the strong relationship. They are the straw hat pirates when the real story began. They put their feet on the barrel and spoke their dreams together. (The entire East blue is prologue hence the name of the final town they were in Loguetown)

I noticed that throughout all that happened at Water 7, Chopper never really showed any friction or objections to Luffy, despite Zoro disagreeing with Luffy’s way of having Usopp be back in the crew, Nami objecting to the Captain’s fight and wanting Luffy to talk it over again, Usopp mishandling his insecurities to the point of attacking Luffy, and Sanji kicking Luffy to the ground as he was making a Captain’s statement related to not wanting the crew to sink at sea.

In that respect, I suppose it could reasonably be said that Chopper was sort of pushed aside in that he was the one I was most uncertain about how exactly Chopper felt about any of the various things Luffy ended up saying and doing, and his overall mindset about the situation in general. He could have confronted Luffy about talking things over again like how Nami did, yet he wasn’t seen to do anything of the sort.
