Questions & Mysteries Luffy - Blackbeard parallels

#1
I wanted to make this one of the longest threads in the forum since this is quite easily the longest established dynamic of parallels in the series. Like even down to like the most recent chapters you can find parallels still being made between Luffy and Blackbeard.

So in order to make this a long thread, I will only give one Parallel and you guys can give the rest.

The Pre time skip is the Journey of Blackbeard's Rise to power whereas the Post time skip is the journey of Luffy's rise to Power.

Let's go through this. It can be argued that the pre the time skip overarching story was entirely Incidental to Luffy’s journey entirely.

By this I mean Luffy's involvement in the overarching story of pre time skip was secondary to Luffy’s own goals and journey at the time. This being Creating his crew.

The overarching story built up to the Marineford war. This began literally around the exact same time Luffy's journey in East blue began. Blackbeard killed Thatch around this exact time and so the events were coinciding with each other. Luffy was creating a crew, while Blackbeard was starting his machinations to set off Marineford. The climax of these two journeys happens around the same time too, blackbeard defeats Ace around the time Luffy and co defeat CP-9 to get Robin. And this tracks all the way to the end of the time skip as the main thing Luffy learns from the entire journey including Marineford is that he needs his crew. Wheares Blackbeard ascends to Yonkou status with the payback war 1 year into the time skip while Luffy and company are training to get stronger for each other.

Now the post time skip story begins and Luffy has his crew back and Blackbeard is hunting devil fruits. I won't say I know Blackbeard's plan post time skip but it's clear that the actual story of post time skip is no longer hinged on his actions. This time, the story is directly affected by Luffy.

The overarching story here being the defeat of the Yonkou. Luffy starts this off by making a direct challenge to a Yonkou in fishman island and the climax of this plot line is the defeat of Doflamingo the same way the defeat of Ace was the climax of pre time skip. From here on out the Dominos were falling and Luffy's rise immediately skyrocketed from getting a road poneglyph in Zou to becoming an Emperor in WCI to defeating two emperors in Wano.

That's the parallel, Oda chose to have Luffy barely even participate in the world changing events of pre time skip so that Blackbeard would rise and instead Luffy was building his crew. Whereas post time skip it's purely Luffy doing anything worth talking about on the world stage even being the main topic at the reverie and influencing the abolition of warlord system.

Give the rest of the parallels as you've seen them below

They helped each other indirectly, that's an interesting twist as well.

Blackbeard destroyed Drum Island, which led to the events prior to Luffy's adventure in Drum Island, without Wapol being their king during the time when Luffy needs help most due to Nami being sick.

Luffy took down Crocodile, which helped Blackbeard to achieve the Shichibukai status quickly.

Blackbeard took down Ace and delivered him to the Marines, who was the biggest threat to Luffy's PK dream (I know people won't accept this, but Ace would be the PK probably).

Luffy invaded Impel Down, while Blackbeard dealt with the entrance guards and 1000 bazooka troops, which even Jinbe admitted that it helped a lot when they were hurrying to escape from Magellan. And the panic inside of the Impel Down helped Blackbeard as well.

Blackbeard defeated Magellan, and Lafitte hypnotized the marines to open the gates of Justice to anyone, so Luffy could pass the gates of justice thanks to Blackbeard and Lafitte.

Teach as a veteran played it smart and arose in power straight with a clear goal and plan in mind.
Luffy as a newbie took it with luck , allies and hardships to make it where he is now.

Both of their acts benefitted each other

The parallel between the two consists by two opposite views of powerful ambition. Two versions of desire for power. They are like Yin and Yang.
