In regards to Luffy 1v1ing Kaido, many have said that it is completely impossible and that there is no way it could ever happen due to the power gap between the two. However, I think that people who say this vastly underestimate the abilities of DF awakening and what Luffy could achieve with it.
So lets just go through some things. For a person on Luffy's level, awakening is NOT an advanced technique. In fact, I'd argue that most people on Luffy's level have awakening. Katakuri had it. Doffy, who is FAR weaker than current Luffy, had it. And there are many characters who likely could have it but are unconfirmed like cracker, perospero, and Oven.
But my point with this statement is that Luffy given that Luffy is a great deal stronger than Doffy, having mastered both ACoA and FS, getting awakening shouldn't be that difficult of an endeavor. In fact, if he were to meet someone who could explain to him how one could awaken their DF, I think Luffy would likely figure it out by this arc's end.
but onto what kind of a boost Luffy would actually get from awakening. DF awakening gives a person a whole new range of abilities. Just look at katakuri, who had an entire fighting style based around the "donut" abilities of his DF awakening. Doffy went from being low diffed by G4 to being able to stall it for 30 minutes via DF awakening. The fact that Luffy doesn't already have awakening is a testament to how strong he would be with awakening.
Without awakening, neither Doffy nor katakuri would be near as big of threats as they were(doffy moreso than kata).
So its not unreasonable to expect awakening to give Luffy a big boost in power. If you couple this with the boost he already got from his Udon training, he will likely leave wano FAR stronger than when he came in.
So that leads us to what Luffy's awakening could be. Given the past two awakenings we have seen, Luffy will likely be able to spread the effects of his DF to objects, he will be able to manipulate objects as if they were rubber. Could his awakening be something entirely different? Yes, but there's not much basis for that so I'm not going to talk about it.
But if Luffy does get environmental manipulation powers from awakening, his possibilities increase tremendously. He'd possibly be able to:

- reshape environments like shiki did
- create earthquakes by turning the ground to rubber and shaking it
- create volcanos by using the "G2" pumping action with the ground, essentially pumping lava to the surface
- gain access to immense speeds via bouncing off the ground
- being able to fly by bouncing off clouds.
- use G4-style punches out of fists created from the ground
- be able to imbue his awakened attacks with ACoA, making his ACoA far more effective as he'd now be able to use it to attack his opponents from all sides.
- make G4 obsolete, allowing Luffy to conserve his haki and stamina better
- make a weapon like a bo staff(which he'd know how to use from his adventures with sabo and ace as a child) an extremely viable choice for Luffy as he'd not only be able to stretch it like Goku, but he'd also be able to use awakening to reshape or transform his staff. Maybe into a "giant metallic rubber clone" or a suit of armor he could wear(G5?). Ultimately, such a weapon could even rival Kaido's staff as when Luffy combines the durability of Rubber with the hardness of steal and drops ACoA and CoA+Rubber fusion on top of it, it would be practically indestructible.
