Honestly shocked Arlong is so low. I didn't expect him to be high but I figured he'd be the type of character people love to hate. It also helps he was the first real challenge for Luffy too. Completely shocked he's so low.

You do realize that Katakuri was last seen in the manga back in 2018, the excuse of him being more popular than Crocodile or Doffy because he was Luffy's most recent opponent is a lame excuse.

In all the regions with the exception of Japan, Katakuri is more popular than Crocodile and Doffy.

If we ever get another future global popularity poll again and if Katakuri ends up ranking lower than Crocodile or Doffy then you were right, but if not then it will tell you that him being more popular has nothing to do with him being Luffy's most recent opponent.

I said he's the most recent of Luffy's opponents not that he appeared in the last month or so. We never perceive OP and its characters in accordance with the real-world timeline. There is a reason why most people still actively discuss Doffy. OP characters are mostly remembered for their iconic moments and the last time something big happened before the raid was Katakuri vs. Luffy. So Katakuri is the most recent of these iconic moments for fans. They don't care if he appeared half a decade ago, which is why I said he probably received more votes than the other two I've mentioned because he's Luffy's most recent opponent.
