Powers & Abilities Luffy's Awakening will allow him to fight underwater by creating resin bubbles

Remember all those fun posts about how Luffy's awakening would involve resin from that Brazilian tree? Well, while reading Sabaody and Fishman Island, I came to a realization: those bubbles are made out of resin, correct? (I'm having a hard time finding proof they are the same bubbles, but, they're at least similar technology).

If Luffy could naturally produce this resin from his rubber body, he could form the bubbles used in Fishman Island, which he used to fight against Hody Jones and the Kraken.

This is potentially how Luffy overcomes his greatness weakness, water, while still not being immune to it, as damaging the bubble enough will still pop it.

I plan on making a bigger post about this when I have more time and working brain cells, but I wanted to make a quick one just to get the idea out there. Thoughts?

Resin is formed from burning the tree's gum, correct? Luffy is capable of lighting himself on fire, as seen with Red Hawk and Red Roc. If he achieved heat great enough to turn his own skin into resin, it's possible. So, maybe, a over-charged version of Gear 2, where he superheats his body to form resin from his own rubber skin?

Luffy has a giant skillset now that his Fruit can alter the rules of reality (dude was grabbing lightning bolts).

I personally like Oda's weird-ass science in this series, but, I can understand why it bothers people.

Gear 5 was already controversial enough when Luffy was bad at using it, once he starts using Gear 5 to dominate fights, a lot of people will be furious. It's what happens when a fanbase outgrows a series in some ways, and when a series becomes so popular that fans outside its target-audience gets interested in it. There will always be people who hate how goofy Luffy is, but, it's who he is.

Part of me wants the Resin-bros to be right after pouring so much effort into those theories, too.
