Why did the WG eradicate the lunarians when they could have just enslaved them with Imu’s powers instead?

I think it’s because lunarians are creations of Nika.

Imu can use his DF to create demons. Lunarians are the opposite of demons, they are angels with flames on their backs.

imo lunarians were created by Nika. They have a bit of Nika’s power, which is where their flames come from. Due to this, they can fight Imu’s demons, killing them and also resist themselves being turned into demons.

This is why Imu had to destroy the lunarians and couldn’t simply oppress them like he’s doing to the rest of the world.

I totally agree that just like Demons were created by Devil, it makes sense that Lunarians were created by their God,
But i'm not sure that it's Nika, it's probably Sea God,

I believe Lunarians and all other non-human species, along with Devil Fruits, are the products of mutation caused by the Mother Flame's devastating impact on the environment.

The original Nika's war for liberation in the First World resulted in the birth of Second World filled with new species and sub-species.

The Lunarians were the most powerful race of the Second World and lived atop what would later become the Red Line. They were not as powerful as the Ancient Kingdom that fell to the Twenty Monarchs, and would later share their fate.

I totally agree that just like Demons were created by Devil, it makes sense that Lunarians were created by their God,
But i'm not sure that it's Nika, it's probably Sea God,

Makes more sense if the sea god(likely Poseidon) created the sea kings.

It's weird to call them Lunarian when they never have reaction to the moon like the Minks, or any moon related power. I think they were from the moon. From the perspective of earthling, they are the angels descend from the sky towards the Earth, originally from the Moon.

They are part of an ancient races just like Oars which is now extinct. I believe the primordial world is a place that is inhabited with colossal monsters, Oars (devil), Lunarian (angel), mankind, and fishes. Oars and Lunarian are the two dominant races on the planet, but they slowly breed with mankind to give birth to variety of races. Oars gave birth to giants, buccaneers, Oni, Blackbeard's secret race, the devils on Impel Down, the further the bloodline goes the smaller they are. On the other hand, Lunarian gave birth to Birkans, Skypieans, Shandians, the further the bloodline goes the smaller the wings. Nika was probably having one of the longest bloodline which he didn't have wings anymore. Dragon was probably a descendant of the Lunarian, that's why Luffy are the one who ring the golden bell of Shandora. They said only the descendant of Shandian can ring it.

The Red Line is a divider between devil and angel. The Lunarian defeated the Oars to become race of God living on the Red Line.

The Lunarian becomes the Earth God, which contradicts the fact that they are originally from the Moon. This is the same for Imu a devil who claims himself as God.

From the Mural 'Earth God and it's Serpent', I think this could means the Lunarian and their worshipping serpent. They have a huge war with the Oars (devil) and destroyed the world and claimed as the God of the world.
