Powers & Abilities Maneuver Warfare: Shiryu's Clear Fruit

Maneuver Warfare: Shiryu's Clear Fruit
I would like to point out that there are special kinds of military strategies involving different types of warfare. In this case, I will be discussing Attrition Warfare in contrast with Maneuver Warfare.

Maneuver warfare is a military strategy which emphasizes movement, initiative and surprise to achieve a position of advantage. Maneuver seeks to inflict losses indirectly by envelopment, encirclement and disruption, while minimizing the need to engage in frontal combat. In contrast to attrition warfare where strength tends to be applied against strength, maneuver warfare attempts to apply strength against weakness in order to accomplish the mission.

I would like to suggest that the way Shiryu uses the Clear Fruit is based on these principles of warfare. He calls it a useful ability, and not necessarily a powerful one. This is true if he is considering the Maneuver Warfare concept as part of its use. Stealth is considered to be one of the most dynamic forms of Maneuver Combat. It allows a person to perform covert operations and allows for more opportunities to move, to take initiative, and to surprise an enemy (the core elements of maneuvering).

In other words, it may not be a powerful fruit on its own, but it is powerful in the sense that it provides one of the greatest Maneuver Warfare elements. Stealth.

CoO is still an easy antidote tho. Especially in top tier ranks. As we've seen, Garp even sensed his movement mid-fight and from relative distance.

This leaves options for an awakening. Even though, I can imagine it would be hard to fight an opponent who completely vanishes mid-sequence only to reappear somewhere else. In contrast to Augur's fruit, his momentum wouldn't even be gone as he is not literally vanishing and popping up again.

But even this feat would he easy game for FS users, a group I include Zoro into. Based on his feats so far, especially in direct relatable contrast to CoO experts and confirmed FS users - but that's my headcanon.

Other than in tactical sneak attacks (such as the latest one) or in stealthy operations I don't think the fruit has much use, especially in a 1vs1 against a top tier.

An important part of Maneuver Warfare is to psychologically disrupt the enemy.

Psychological disruption messes up people's Future Sight. They need to be calm for that.

It's a valid concern, but in this particular case there is a way around that.

Sanji did the same thing with Absalom. He grabbed his leg 🦵 while he was invisible after he had been attacked a bunch of times.

He also started throwing around salt to hit him. At least, I think it was salt. I can't totally recall.

But, Shiryu is unlikely to make shortsighted mistakes. When he was fighting Garp, I think he combined Attrition Warfare with Maneuver Warfare and ended up making his attacks more obvious throughout the fight. That's just speculation, though.

Awakening for Shiryu is weird lol... He's going to do a Super Woman feat and ride around in an invisible plane or something.
