Not every character has to have some complexity to them to be a good character.
Shanks fulfills his role well in the story and that is enough for me. His few scenes that happen in the story are all hype, I still remember the hype the community had in the chapters he appeared.
Mihawk been lacking tho for a long time tho, but I am glad he is appearing again now with the Cross Guild sheningans.
