He told Perona they should leave as Reverie was beginning, and he left a couple of days later, I don’t think he was laying around nonchalantly lol, he probably had to prepare for a long sea voyage, no matter where he is going.
Prepare for a voyage with what? His coffin boat is not a traditional vessel, there’s no storage, no supplies, nothing. He was waiting for the Marines because he wanted a fight and you know that.
There is no evidence that Mihawk fears pursuit. Everything we’ve seen from him suggests that he’s eternally bored and does things, his warlord gig included, for shits and giggles. Turning up to Baratie? Someone woke him up from his nap. Going to Mariejoa to listen in on Crocodile’s defeat and replacement? Killing time. His relationship with the marines was strictly transactional, in fact none of the warlords save Buggy are the least bit afraid of the navy, least of all the strongest of them.
And I haven’t really seen you state where you believe is a good place to face Mihawk and why? You’re just here to say it’s not Elbaf? That’s fine I guess but do you have a better idea of where the fight will take place?
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with simply saying ‘I don’t know. There’s no evidence either way and everything we can come up with is nothing but headcanon’. But when you’re crafting theories, you can’t just shoehorn Mihawk into random places because it makes sense for Shanks. That’s not how this works.
Elbaf is Usopp’s arc, has been since the very beginning, and now with Hajrudin’s dream and Linlin’s origin tied to the giants, Mihawk and Zoro is even more awkward and out of place and would overshadow Usopp’s dream. It would be like Luffy becoming PK and Sanji finding All Blue at the same time. Obviously Sanji’s dream is going to get shit on.
I don’t even see this whole ‘warrior’s pride’ thing with Mihawk or Zoro. Mihawk does not consider himself a brave warrior of the sea in the same way Usopp and the giants do. He’s a swordsman and he follows a code similar to Hyou or the samurai. That’s literally it. It’s like trying to say that Luffy holds the same ‘man’s duel’ warrior code as Katakuri post-retcon. He doesn’t.
There’s really nothing suggesting that Luffy will meet Shanks at Elbaf either, only Da Vinci Code level speculations based on Shanks’ apparent Norse thematic. Blackbeard has Beehive Island, Linlin has Totland and Kaido has taken over Wano. There’s nothing that suggests Elbaf is Shanks’s territory or that he doesn’t have his own island.
