By this chapter, we have the lore related to Zoro, Shimotsuki, and Enma. I have some headcanon about OP's distant future related to Zoro.
In the future chapters...
...The disciple, Zoro, finally surpasses his teacher, Mihawk, in the final swordsman battle, and obtains the resolution for his story and dream. In the same arc, each Strawhats also attains something related to their story and power. After Zoro and also the other Strawhats fully recuperated, the final war against BB and also WG commences.
Zoro is aware, that there's a mysterious figure observing or helping the Strawhat to fulfill the victory against Blackbeard. But in the finale of that saga, it reveals that the figure is a secret, Fourth Ancient Weapon. And it's a person. The only person in the world whom Imu trusts the most.
It is Kuina. The one who managed to defeat Zoro for two thousand times. She is still alive, more vibrant and strong than ever. It appears that Shimotsuki Kozaburou and Koushirou, along with all members of their family, plotted to deceive Zoro and all citizens of Shimotsuki village. Kuina plays dead or the one laying with the cloth on her face is her look-alike, and the plan commenced.
While after all this, they sent Kuina away from the village for a secret mission related to Wano and Shimotsuki legacy, that led to her meeting and battling strongest swordsmen in the New World. Until she even surpassed Gandhi Gorosei in a swordfight, and becoming Imu's most trusted person.
Just like how Imu, an existence even stronger than World's Strongest Creature, is Luffy's final opponent. Then Kuina, a swordmaster stronger than even Mihawk and Ryuma, is the hidden final opponent for Zoro.
After the quest to surpass the teacher resolves, Zoro's story turns into a continent-rumbling sword battle finale between two of the strongest swordmasters surpassing any of the previous generation legends, but also heart-felt nostalgia between childhood rivals, best friends, and even potential lovers.
