1) After Bitter‘s fake being a jinchuriki, he knew from his own damn role that no other jinchu claim would be fake
2) As such he also had evidence we were being truthful about being Town sided because Town needed to protect Shanks, too
3) Despite having evidence in his role he wounded Shanks and almost killed him.

That‘s literally the definition of game throwing. I‘m glad he‘s gone.
